An angry noble wants revenge, and he intends to use the Musketeers to help him get that revenge.

Mainly Athos centric, this story takes place before series one. A broken Athos has nothing left to live for , until he acquires two new brothers, whether he wants them or not. This is my first attempt so please be kind. I welcome all opinions and advice. All characters are borrowed and I don't own to be in anyway historically accurate.

There are references to the first story, so it may help to read or refer to it, if you haven't already done so.

Episode tag to S2E2 *&* D'Artagnan-centric *&* Slightly off-canon *&* I couldn't stand, how the king treated his loyal musketeers after they brought him back to the palace in time. So I thought of a way to make him see his errors. Unfortunately, d'Artagnan has to pay the price for it. This is what my muse came up with. Featuring all main characters.

Following the events of Season 2, Episode 2, "An Ordinary Man," d'Artagnan is left questioning his suitability to be a musketeer- and with a need to redeem himself in the eyes of his King. Will this new mission do the trick? Or make things worse? A bit of adventure, angst, and H/C to throw in the mix!

When the King sends Treville on a mission outside of Paris, the Captain leaves a trusted second in temporary command. Nothing can go wrong. Can it? Set in the months between Seasons 1 and 2.

Athos tries to deal with the repercussions of Anne's reappearance in his life, whilst his brothers try to convince him he is a good man, aka the Milady Arc.. Spoilers for the entire season, not a romance, but a tale of missing scenes, angst, hurt/comfort, humour and brotherly love as a route to eventual healing. .
