I discovered FF a few years ago and fell in love with the idea of taking the familiar characters we adore and cherish and giving them new life. I've only explored a few of my favorite fandoms and it is exciting to know there are so many more out there. I finally took one little idea that has been bouncing around in my head and made that jump to publishing it here. For anyone who has debated whether they should - or should not - take that leap I can enthusiastically say "go for it!" I have been overwhelmed, humbled and inspired by the many incredible and devoted readers.

You can probably guess that Jane Austen is my comfort spot. I adore Elizabeth and Darcy, but Anne Elliott and Frederick Wentworth are my absolute favorite couple in fiction. There will be a Persuasion story in my future once I feel up to the challenge of somehow taking the perfect story and making something new from it. Along the vein of JA, I also love Elizabeth Gaskill's North and South - need I say more than Richard Armitage as John Thornton. Be still, my beating heart!

Other favorites include Doctor Who and anything Neil Gaiman. In fact, a Pride and Prejudice/Neverwhere crossover is right up there at the top of my dream fics... if you know of one please share. If you would read one, let me know. I've always imagined the audience for that type of thing is limited, but you never know!

Before "Upon Closer Acquaintance", I had never done even a hint of creative writing, I'm really just winging it. I borrow a lot from Austen's letters and from other poets and writers of the day. Many of the words are not mine (though they are always in the public domain), but I hope that I weave the wonderful language of these incredible artists in a way that makes them new and fresh.
