![]() Author has written 17 stories for My Little Pony, Avatar: Last Airbender, and Silmarillion. Hmm. Guess I should write something about myself, eh? Let's see here... I'm an easy-going girl who likes to read...and sometimes write...fanfiction. Even though it winds up wasting TONS of my time and there's all sorts of much more important I could be doing. sigh XP I try to stay on top of updates, but given my attention span, Real Life responsibilities, and notoriously picky inner editor, I'm usually not very good at it. I try to have the entire story--or, at least, most of it--done before I post it. My beta is stingrae90, and she is awesome in so many ways. We work together on our Avatar fics. If you're reading this, you should take the time to scroll down to my favorite authors and click on her name. She's got some lovely sibling fluff stories about Zuko and Azula as kids (you know, before Lu Ten died and everything went to crap), and she's working on a longer fic about the Kyoshi Warriors. Favorite fandoms of mine, in no particular order, are Star Wars, Fullmetal Alchemist, My Little Pony, the Tolkienverse (because LOTR is only the ending ;) ), Transformers, and Avatar: The Last Airbender. Harry Potter's pretty cool, too, though I haven't gotten around to reading the books yet. (Everything I know about Harry Potter I learned from the movies, fanfic, wiki, and my little sister.) Notes on the fandoms I write in, in alphabetical order... ATLA Fic This is the fandom I tend to write the most in. Vintage Gaang is on hold at the moment, due to real life and other plotbunnies getting in the way. I intend to return to it someday, just not right now. Because I'm more than a little crazy, I went ahead and figured out a calendar for the Avatarverse. Mike and Bryan don't seem to have come up with their own calendar for the world, and I was sick and tired of not being able to keep track of the passage of time in my fics. I'm nitpicky like that. So I went on a huge research spree and sifted through all sorts of information concerning lunar phases and the Chinese calendar and the sexagenary cycle of zodiac animals and the five elements, and this is the result. It's not perfect, I'll admit, but it works well enough. There are two calendars here--a regular yearly calendar and an episode timeline. If you want to use them, feel free! Credit is much appreciated. ^_^ Gilded Green The Gilded Green series is my main ATLA project at the moment. It's a concept I came up with in the spring of 2009, just a few months after I discovered ATLA. I've been working on it ever since, with lots and lots and lots of help from Stingrae. Originally it was going to be one massive, multi-chapter fic, but then we decided that was far too crazy and split it into a series of smaller fics. The first one, Gilded Green, is complete, and its sequel, What A Week, should be posted soon. Many more fics will follow. ETA: WaW is being annoying, and I've got a few characters/plotlines that are refusing to cooperate. I think I'm finally figuring out how to wrangle them into submission, but it's hard for me to find time. Real Life is pretty insane this semester, what with all the courses I'm taking. I'm hoping I'll have it done pretty soon, but I can't make any promises because I always end up breaking them. XD Just know that I'm working on it, and it's DEFINITELY not abandoned. I think about it every day; I just can't always find time to write/edit. Simply put, GG is an AU universe where, instead of dying, Lu Ten was captured and brainwashed by the Dai Li. Now he works for them, perfectly content with his life as a peaceful citizen of Ba Sing Se. Also, there's, like, crazy coworkers and criminals to capture and a black market to shut down and a war to keep quiet and lots of character development and worldbuilding to be explored. (Trigger) Warnings: Gilded Green contains some dark themes/sections (brainwashing isn't exactly a walk in the park), mentions of adult themes (nothing explicit), and lots of shades of gray and characters who believe they're doing the right thing, despite how terrible their jobs can be. Also, there are LOTS of OCs (kinda necessary...no Dai Li have names or much personality in canon), so if you dislike original characters, this series probably isn't for you. My Little Pony Fic ...Yeah. I was a MLP fan before it was cool. XD MLP:FiM is seriously the best thing to have ever happened to the MLP fandom. (Note than when I say MLP:FiM, I mean the series itself. Not the bronies. I rather dislike bronies. Which isn't to say I dislike male MLP fans. Just bronies.) Despite its awesomeness, I don't write fic for it. I prefer to focus on the G1s--the hand-me-down ponies from my babysitter I grew up playing with--and the G3s, who I always liked but wished Hasbro would do better things with. Those are the ponies I first fell in love with when I discovered the Dream Valley website waaaaaaay back during Thanksgiving Break in 2004, and those are the ponies I write about. If you're looking for more MLP fic, check out The My Little Pony Lexicon. It's a fun little purplish message board run by Lady Moondancer and me. (Okay, well, mostly LM by now; I haven't had time to go there much lately.) It was started after the MLPArena shut down their fanfic board, so its main purpose is for fanfiction, but it's also just a fun place to hang out. We're always happy to welcome more members! The Tenses Saga is a really, really, really long, slow story that I've been updating sporadically for a few years now. And it's probably gonna take many more before it's actually finished. (I'm just as bad as LM when it comes to updating. Hee.) It's one of those G3s-learn-about-the-G1s stories, but hopefully it'll be much different than anything anyone else has written so far. Since the 250 words they give us as a fic summary is nowhere near enough to do the Tenses Saga justice, I've provided a much better summary below: Ponyville was a nice, happy, quiet kingdom filled with Earth Ponies. It was filled with Earth Ponies because, as everyone knows, those were the only ponies that had ever existed. Right? WRONG! Upon the mysterious deaths of her parents, Countess Wondermint realizes that the secret her family had kept hidden for so long may, in fact, not be so secret any more. Fearing for her life, she flees the realm, leaving a secret room of ancient records in the hooves of her best friend, Lady Crystal Lace. Suddenly finding herself to be the sole keeper of the secrets of Ponyland's past, Crystal Lace does her best to learn all she can about what were thought to be simple legends, while Wondermint finds herself on the run from a group of ponies who seem to have supernatural abilities. Add in checkers, bad jokes, bad fortune-telling, sibling death matches, chocolate chip cookies, a jocky stallion looking for dates, flighty Pegasi, nutty Unicorns, lab explosions, stupid balls (the partying kind), well-meaning friends who have no idea what they're doing, mischievous fillies, dark secrets, not-so-dark secrets, name-calling, a mentally-challenged mare who thinks she can fly, weird diaries, random naptimes, odd cutie marks, ponies who THINK they know what they're doing, ponies who have no IDEA what they're doing, ponies who think they don't know what they're doing but do it right anyway, random bursts of lightning, glowing ponies, stupid bad guys, smart bad guys, and one HECK of a lot of fermented rainbowberry juice... ...And nope, sorry, but you're still nowhere near to reaching the truth. So far, the first two parts of the story have been published on the Lexicon. Part 3 has been giving me grief. I've also been preoccupied with other fandoms lately, and my MLP muse has fallen silent, so I don't know when I'll get back to writing the Tenses Saga. Don't worry, it'll be finished someday...just not right now. ;) The Tolkienverse I love Tolkien's works. Like, a lot. And I love to read good fanfiction about Tolkien's works. My favorite type of Tolkien fanfiction is the Elves-In-Modernday sort. You know, the ones about those immortals who stayed behind and watched the world evolve around them. Maglor is probably my favorite character to read about in this situation--he has the most baggage, and he's been there the longest. (Glorfindel doesn't count--he took a two thousand year break in the Halls of Mandos, after all.) There's a lot of other interesting characters who might've stayed, though, and I like reading about all of them. If you're interested in such stories, feel free to check out my C2, Modern Middle-Earth. I gathered up every decent Modernday fic I could find and put it in there. They aren't all finished, but they're all good reads. If nothing else, check out Mirrordance's For Every Evil trilogy, Niege's A Friday, lipstick's Captain Tinkerbell, and Jael the Scribe's Not Fade Away series. I'm starting my own little series of Modernday Elves, called This Day and Age. First story so far is Pizza Night in Imladris. It'll be updated whenever I have the time and will to do so. XD Hope you enjoy reading! ~CaelumBlue Avatar made by collapsingnight on livejournal. |
