Chapter 1

The Bond

"Shadow!!" The black and red-striped hedgehog heard his name being yelled, but when he turned to look at the person who screamed his name, it was already to late.

He saw a missle coming towards him at a speedy-rate that he didn't even had time to move out of the way or even have the chance to scream out "Chaos Control." But to only watch in pure shock and fear, as the missle hit him straight on. Being knocked off his feet and flew a couple of yards away from the spot he gotten hit.

A certain blue hedgehog saw all of this and went on a full rampage, destroying the robot that hit his friend in the process. Once he has calmed down he immediately ran to his injured friend, to see a yellow-golden two-tailed fox checking for a pulse.

The blue hedgehog walked in a steady pace to keep his mind from thinking the worse for his dear friend on the ground. Once he got to him and his buddy, he kneed right next to them watching the black hedgie on the ground, and not thinking that he is dead, because he can't be, right?

Well he was wrong, when he said something to cause him a dread feeling in his stomach."I-is he alright?" The hedgehog looked at the fox who was currently looking for a pulse of life in the ultimate life form's body.

"I..." The fox started to say but didn't know how to say it without hurting his best friend feelings."I'm... s-sorry, Sonic," The fox kid said, not daring to look up at his older brother. Feeling the worse thing could happen if he did." He didn't... make i-it." The fox said holding back the tears that were pushing to come out.

When Sonic heard those words his heart and blood turned cold."N-no," Sonic said, hardly believing that Shadow, the Ultimate life form is dead."T-tails, that c-can't be true, it just can't!" Sonic said shaking his head hoping to hear the fox say something else then that.

"I'm sorry, Sonic, but he is... gone." Tails said, letting go of Shadow's hand, where he was looking for a pulse of life in the dark hedgehog's body.

Tails got up and started to walk, but turned around to look at his brother. He could see that Sonic wasn't going to budge until he come to his senses and know that he is officially dead. Tails also didn't want to believe it either but he has to come and face it from time to time. He stood there and waited for Sonic to get up and followed him. Until, he saw Sonic pick up Shadow's hand and took off his glove to feel the pulse better.

"Sonic, I already check for hi-" But was immediately cut off by Sonic.

"Sh." Sonic shushed Tails and kept all his attention on his friend, that's laying on the ground. Hoping to get a pulse or a reaction from the hedgie. But after some seconds, nothing happened. Not even a single flinch or a pulse.

Sonic's shoulders slumped when he didn't get anything, knowing that his friend has truly pasted on. Unilt he felt...

BADUMP

Sonic looked back at his friend, not believing what he felt. So he kept his hand where it was. To make sure that his mind wasn't messing with him. Until he felt another

BADUMP

This time he knew it wasn't his imagination. He actually felt the heart beat this time. Then, Sonic noticed that Shadow's chest was slowly rising and then falling.

'He's alive!' Sonic said in his head 'He's alive!'

"Tails!" Sonic yelled, causing Tails to jump out of alarm becuase of Sonic's yelling to come out of nowhere."He's alive! He's alive!" Sonic said cheerfully and happy tears rolling down his face.

Tails immediately ran back to the duo hedgehogs and looked at Shadow. Seeing his chest rising and falling. Tails luaghed not believing it. Then he started to smile, relieved to see that the dark hedgehog was alive.

Tails snapped out of it quickly and thought of something to help Shadow quickly. Because if he didn't then Shadow would definitely die if he didn't stopped the bleeding from his wounds.

"We have to do something, quickly!" Tails said in a alarming voice.

Sonic snapped out of it and nodded his head to tell Tails he ready to do something.

"We have to carry him back to our base, that's the only place I can heal him." Tails said looking over the Ultimate life form's body. Seeing all the damaged that the hedgehog took.

Sonic nodded again and instinctively picked up Shadow, obeying what Tails said.

Shadow heard voices as he started to come back. Soon realizing that he has been hit hard and causing him to black out, and also to seem to cause him to die and come back. Then, he felt his body being lift up, causing this to open up his eyes, only to see blury colors. Trying to focus on something, he could see blue and a yellowish color right next to him. Already knowing who was the blue one.

'Sonic, why is he here?' Shadow thought, because Sonic would never help him out, right?

"S-sonic?" Shadow said in a hoarse tone. Sonic looked down to see red crimson eyes staring back at his emerald-green eyes. Sonic let out a relieved sigh, and smiled warmly at the injured hedgehog.

"Hey, Shads. Don't worry, you'll be alright. O-okay?" Sonic said, having trouble to keep the tears from falling. He was happy that Shadow was now awake, but looking over his body once more. Told him it wasn't going to be good. His body was badly burned, a huge cut on the one's left side of his head, and some of his fur was gone. His whole body was covered in blood. Even his chest fur was stained, which turned pink from the blood.

"Wh-where are... we?" Shadow ask having a hard time saying the words because it felt like his throat was on fire.

"Just don't worry," Sonic said looking at him. Rubbing one of Shadow's ears between his fingers. "You'll be fine, okay?"

Shadow nod slightly but enough for Sonic to see. He tried his hardest to keep his eyes open, but they kept getting heavier and heavier. Until, he couldn't keep them open anymore. He was only thinking of one thing...

'STOP IT, STOP IT, STOP IT!!!"

Until everything disappeared and light opened up.

Shadow woke up with a sudden jolt through his body. Looking around his small, grey room. His room was just a plain old grey room, but what makes the room stand out a bit was the weird technology that was in his room. These were to either charge his Inhibitor Rings or from the base, known as GUN.

Then there was the curtains. They were a red and black pattern of swirls. The carpet was a nice tan color that fit into the senario. Shadow looked at his plasma purple clock, seeing the time was 6:30 in the morning. Knowing it was time for him to get up, along side with the other people in Mobuis. He started to walk to his bathroom, but stopped in his tracks. He looked at the curtains, seeing that there was something off, so he started to walk towards them. Lifting one of the sides, to see...

Snow? Shadow thought. Why was there snow? Isn't going to be March in a week or so? What is going on here? Shadow went back into his bathroom and took a quick hot shower. Then got ready and went down stairs.

His house was a two-story building, but if you include his attic its a three-story building. The second level, also is where his bedroom is, is a pretty part of the house. The hallway that connects his room, a guest room, and a guest bathroom, is a nice light shade of blue. While there was a cool light fixture on the ceiling.

The bottom was more of a complex structure. It was filled with future technology and old things. One of these things being photos of Shadow and Sonic, from birthday parties, and ones that Sonic forced Shadow to take the photo with him. There's also a little library with books, from new to old editions. Shadow walks down his red-velvet carpet. The railings a white and swirling lines, ending with a golden touch. Making it look like a royal railing from the olden times. He walks down, looking at the walls before him. They seemed to shimmer from the white light the illuminate the whole house. He finally reached the bottom, turning to the right towards the kitchen. He heads towards one of the dark wood cabinets, opening it to grab a bowl and ceral. Soon enough, hes sits dowb to eat his ceral in silence. Just how he liked it. He turns to look at the snow piling up on his window. He looks at every single sbowfalke, looking over its fine details. Pin-pointing their weaknesses and strength points.

Then something jolt in his mind. 'If its snowing then,' Shadow thought for a second vefore continuing, ' I can have a day alone at home.' Shadow smiled fondly at the thought. He finished his ceral and headed towards the room. Picking a book from the shelf, name ' The Winter Blue Boy',(hint: I'm going to make another Sonic fanfiction, and this going to be the name.) and he starts to read.

It was about three hours when Shadow started to read ' The Winter Blue Boy' , when all of a sudden the door bell rang, making Shadow jump out of his skin. He questionably look at the door thinking who will be coming during a snow day. He gets up a sees a blue color standing out side his door. 'Oh, no. Not the blue pest. Why now?' Shadow thought, whiling thinking why is he here, and how does he knows that he lives here.
