![]() Author has written 5 stories for Legend of Zelda, Death Note, Soul Eater, and Code Geass. HEY YOU. YA, YOU! I'm a yaoi/shounin ai lover. Meaning boy on boy kissing, snogging, cuddling, and of course, butt sex.(But I also enjoy yuri/shoujo ai, girl/girl, and sometimes, if done right, with certain people, I enjoy het, boy/girl. But mostly yaoi.) If you don't like that, then press that thing called 'BACK'. That's what it's there for. Use it. My pic is a picture of my sister's chinchilla Buchi. Isn't she adorable? Update 11/28/10: Changed a bunch of stuff. I realised how what I put up here didn't matter in the least, so I took it down. Who cares about things like my eye color, anyway? :| Not gonna be updating for a loooong while, but my stories will eventually be continued. Go check out KivaEmber if you're a HichiIchi or UraIchi fan~ She's a wonderful writer. -promotes- ...Go check out the story Hero if you're a Zelda fan. Wonderful story. Another thing. I am a very picky reader. What can I say? I've been spoiled rotten as a child concerning books. My parents promoted reading. A lot. As such, it takes quite a bit to get me to try out a story. A good summary goes a long way. If I've read some of your other stories and liked them, then that's a plus as well. I don't really look at the number of reviews to determine if I'm going to read a story, because often times I've found wonderful stories that have only a tiny bit of reviews. But asking for reviews in a summary is something I find horrible. You should not be putting out a story just to get reviews. That's just stupid. While reviews are nice, they are not everything. And asking for them in a summary? Makes me more motivated to not read your story. So, once you've got me(or a reader like me) in your story, next comes grammar. I loathe bad grammar. I'm not talking about a spelling mistake every once in a while. We're all humans, we can't be perfect dictionaries, and those keys are awfully close. But when every two words there's a mistake, not only does it make my inner Nazi act up, but it physically hurts me to read it. Grammar as well as the format you use is very important. Think of a reader as a person grading your work. While spelling isn't too important, the way you set your paragraphs up is half your grade. If people don't like the way you set it up, they may still review, but that is only if they were able to read it and still like it enough to ask you to change it in the next chapter. Like quotation marks. Use them. I've read lots of stories that I was really interested in the plot, but I didn't even make it past the first couple sentences because the author didn't use quotation marks. Some authors listen to the reviewers and change it. My thanks to every one of those people. Once you've got grammar/format down, next comes the actual story. This is another important part of the 'grade'. Having great grammar and format is good, but if your story doesn't live up to the summary, or it just kinda blows, well... So, now you have a wonderful summary, great plot, good grammar/format. But what about the detail? That fighting scene was awesome, but- That lemon was very good, but- See? While you want to make it so that the reader wants more, you can't skimp. I don't care if your lazy, or your hand hurts, or you didn't have enough time. If you don't put enough detail in, people are going to feel slightly cheated, and the want of leaving a review goes down. Or at least a well thought out review. You now have a wonderful plot, summary, great grammar/format, and lots of detail, and your story is actually good. But it still may not be enough. Some people are just lazy. Heck, even I get like that sometimes. If you're writing the story just for reviews, too bad. If you're writing it to test and see if you can actually write, or you're not quite confident with your writing skills, then say so. I(or people like me) tend to review more for the stories that have that written there, and yet still are pretty good. -One quick note, I will not give you a flame, or a destructive review. Ever. I believe that people who don't like a story should use the back button, not write a flame. If you don't like something, well, nobody is forcing you to stay on that page, hmm? Where was I? Reviews, right. Actually, one of my favorite authors on this site, whose name escapes me at the moment, wrote, '- it is not the reader's job to review. It is the writer's job to write the story so that the reader wants to review.' While I'm not sure if that is exactly what was written, it's close. And completely true. If you do manage to get me to review,(kudos to you~) expect something sorta long, or a very nice compliment if I just can't think of the words to say. I tend to try to think out my reviews, and the only times I ever leave a very short review is if I can't find anything to say, but still really liked your story, or if I thought your story was very cute/any other thing that shocked me into a state in which, while I didn't really think it was that good, it was just too cute/whatever to not review. But that is pretty hard to do. I also tend to review if I have a question. Replying to signed reviews also goes a long way towards getting more reviews. I myself will probably review again on the next chapter if you reply to my review. I'm done with my rant. And hopefully it didn't scare you too much, I'm actually quite nice... ;) I went through all this with the spell check, and I lol'd. My rant should be directed at me~ |
