Riven

The concept involves a sub-race of humans known (only to each other, almost coven-like) as Riven. Possessing an altered, evolved genetic structure than that of normal humans, these Riven have enhanced physical abilities as well as being able to use a larger percentage of their brains. Depending on one's family history, this genetic alteration can be hereditary or completely random. It is not a newly developed anomaly however, it has been around for centuries. The reason for witch burnings, unexplainable stage magic, daredevils inexplicably escaping death... all causes of this genetic restructuring.

Also having been around almost as long, are those who hunt Riven. Those who despise their very existence and curse them as monsters and demons. These groups of people long ago formed a coven of assassins known only as 'Hunters.' Profoundly talented individuals trained under extreme situations form this group that still thrives even into the new century.

A girl with a tortured past, a boy with a pure heart, a man whose voice can shift matter, and the most evolved specimen of the Riven meet by happenstance in a city that houses the nerve center of the Hunter organization. The following events set the stage for a chaotic war that was to settle the dispute between Hunters and Riven once and for all.
