![]() Author has written 2 stories for Mass Effect. Timezone: GMT 1 Who are you?: Just a amateur writer, nothing to see here. What do you write?: Concerning fanfiction? Well... sci-fi, I'll be doing mostly sci-fi franchises of the game variety. Why do you write?: Dunno, sort of just came to me, I do however like it very much. Fanfiction is great place to start. It's like writing with training wheels. Plus it's a great way to vent. First time writing?: Actually no. I do write, but I haven't written anything in English and never on a computer. Until now that is. Have you done any fanfic works before?: Again yes, not in English and they were pretty crap. Will you translate your previous works?: Maybe. Once I'm done with fanfics, than I'll be migrating to FictionPress. We'll see how the wind blows. What do you plan to write?: Mass Effect, Fallout, STALKER, Elite Dangerous, Deus Ex, Titanfall. There might be more, or I might even cut down my list. Anyhow that's for future me to decide. Any significant fanfic gripes?: No not really, there is but a few. Most notable offender are those crappy romance flicks people write (half of ME fanfics have some sort of romance, that's just telling). Or worse straight down porn. Also Mary/Gary Sue/Stu inserts. OC inserts I can live with if they doesn't overshadow the main cast of a story, depends on the context. The rest is minor. What would you praise?: An original story. What would that be? Just a story with your own characters being the main focus is enough. Or expanding on secondary characters. Anything but using the main story cast (if there is one) from the beginning to the end. IMO making your own characters is important to learn as soon as possible. I also praise long going series and not abandoning stories. Absences are a sort of grey area, and I'm in no place to judge. Is there something we should be warned about?: I love controversial topics. Any advice?: To fanficiton writers plan out your stories, rewrite if you need to, grammar check, always finish a story (or at the very least share the outcome), don't engage franchise cultist (common in crossovers), speak to your audience. To fanfiction readers share ideas, patience, healthy doses of criticism. |
