This account is *solely* for leaving honest and helpful criticism. I am sick and tired of having my inbox flooded with hateful emails because I was honest and polite. I honestly don't know why I bother anymore, as hardly anyone seems to care about their writing.

Now, while I believe in canon consistency and good grammar, I am not a canon!whore or a grammar!Nazi. I write slash, so obviously I allow for some leniency when it comes to canon. And grammar…unless you’ve taken a college course then you’re not going to know every little rule. That’s fine. If an effort is made, I don’t care.

I am only trying to *help*. I’d like to think that every author out there cares about their story, and wants it to be something good and worthy of praise. I’d like to help them get there.

Things that *do* catch my attention:

Glaring Canon Errors: Things that *could* not happen, and can be proven via book information. IE: Severus Snape having no friends in school. Book 4, chapter 27. Sirius clearly states that Severus was friends with a group of Slytherins who turned out to be Death Eaters. Harry’s long lost twin. If he had a twin, we would know by now. He would have been told, or at the very least when baby Harry is taken from the wreckage of his parents home, the other one would have been as well. Snape being Harry’s father. If I have to actually explain this one, I shall lose all faith in the intelligence of the fandom. I could write up a whole huge list of more, but I’ll just address specific scenarios in reviews.

American Slang: The characters are all British. This doesn’t mean I expect everyone to be fluent in Britisisms, but at least leave the grossly American slang out of it. They *would not* speak that way. IE: Yo dog, that’s phat, shibby or any other solely American slang term.

Horrific Spelling: This comes in two categories:

Canon Spelling Errors: These are books. Anything JK has created is spelled a very certain way. Even if someone has only seen the movies, there are plenty of sites to get the correct spellings. The biggest mistakes: Griffindor, Slitherin, Voldmort, etc.

Regular spelling errors: I can’t spell for crap, but I have a spell checker. In fact, I am using now as I write this. Look, it’s fixed all errors! Isn’t that ingenious? Every program has it. Use it.

Mary Sues: The character that is perfect, wonderful, the main focus of the story, and usually related to a canon character. I have nothing against OCs. Just make them believable and likeable. There are plenty of ways to do this.

OOCness: Having the characters act and talk in ways it is inconceivable for them to do. They are characters, they have set and defined personalities and mannerisms.

Things That Could Not Happen By the Laws of Nature: I’ve taken two AP psych courses and a handful of specialty psych courses. If you’re dealing with a trauma/disease/mind set, look it up. Have an idea what you’re talking about, otherwise you come off sounding like an idiot.

Anyone Under Sixteen Trying to Write About Sex: If you’re not old enough to do it, don’t write about it. If you feel you *have* to, do some research.

I do *not* critique based on whether or not I *like* the story. There are plenty of stories I don’t like that are well written. And there are some fics that aren’t well written that I enjoy. I’ve still left helpful comments, because I *do* like them.

I am not out to be mean. I am not here to be mean or cruel or anything like that. I do *not* flame. I do not comment on the creative aspect of stories, only the technical. I have taken AP Humanities courses, and two different AP Psychology courses. I am not just some angry fan out to bash people’s stories.

But I doubt anyone I offer help to will bother to read this or even take my advise.
