Hey ho

I'm merl (most of the time I call myself merla or merlamerula).

I don't have to tell that much about myself because to me it just sounds boring.

I'm a trained librarian (it's more like an assistent of a librarian, the only english expression I've found is "information specialist" but that doesn't describe it exactly). I think the reason for me to become a librarian is my love for books and for Mr Giles (he will be important later on). Although I knew exactly that I never want to work in a library the rest of my life only. That's why I started studying. Something completely different. Forensic science.

Well, kind of. It's not exactly forensic science because it just covers the analytic topics of forensics. I learn about chemistry, biology, physics, math, statistics, quality assurance, metally and many more. I hopefully will finish studying next year ...

But know I wanna tell about something that might be more interesting: why did I start writing fanfictions?

My first fanfiction was Lilia-Fight for a soul for Merlin. Had that character Lilia in my mind for several weeks and didn't know what I should do with her. Then I thought, why not writing a Merlin-FF. If you read that story you will notice that the first chapters are dealing either with Lilia or with Camelot. Decided to do it this way to make it easier to change the concept :)

But why Merlin? How did I become a fan of this show?

If you might have noticed, I'm from germany. The first season aired here at the beginning of this year. By that time I already had been a fan.

It all started with a friend who showed me an episode of Doctor Who. With the ninth doctor, Eccleston. I liked him. After that this friend showed me a few scenes of the first episode with the tenth doctor, Tennant, and I was lost. Watched the new seasons one to four. My favourite episodes still are Midnight and Blink.

And there we go, Midnight. There I saw a nice young man, doing a quite lovely Emo (I'm wearing black all the time. I'm no Emo, I'm a gothic, but Emos are that sweet). I thought that the acting of this young man was brilliant so I looked up who he is. Colin Morgan. By the time I got to know about him he already was the star of Merlin. But I didn't start watching it immediately. It took me some time. Until I finished Doctor Who, to be exactly.

Watched the first episode of Merlin, loved it, went on watching, became a real fan of the show.

It's not just because of Colin Morgan, it's also because of Anthony Head (my beloved Mr Giles) and all the others. They are brilliant. Also I sometimes have to criticise the development of a story (I really love the Freya-Storyline, but they mixed up a nordic goddess and an egypt one ... -.-) I love watching it. And contrary to most other people who love the Arthurian legend, I don't mind the differences to that. Merlin is a TV-Show. No documentary.

Yeah, that's all for that I think.

I have some fanfictions for Merlin right now. I write them in german because I can think much faster in my own language. A friend translates everything and another one reads and corrects it. So it always takes some time to finish the stories. As a hint: Lilia will be finished updating quite soon. The second ff deals with another OC and Lilia will appear. Then there is another story dealing with a - let's say alternative developement of Beauty and the Beast and a crossover with Doctor Who including the Slitheen is planned (and the eleventh doctor, Matt Smith, because I really love his version of the doctor).
