Light in the Dark

Just outside of Nonnatus sat a tall black lamp post. It illuminated the streets on good night's. Crisp and cold nights such as this. Of a morning, it is not a monument that gains much attention from the Nonnartuns. But when the clouds are plenty and the moon is scares, it is a sign of the altruism they commit.

As Patsy bounded hastily of the stone steps at ten past two in the morning, the bright light brought her anything but comfort. Instead it reminded her of her girlfriend trudging through the darkness at this ungodly hour after a night on male surgical. As her eyes adjusted to the brightness of the light from the sleep she had plunged into for not three hours, she gazed upon a figure.

Her shoulder rested on the black pole of the lamp post, and the rest of her body lay at a slight angle allowing her to swing lightly. Her feet were crossed over and her arms crossed. Her head was tilted go the side. But her eyes, blue and pale, pure with an essence of innocence turned to mischief. Her cheeks were rosy and framed her petite nose which lead down to her lips. Her lips were bright pink and lush .

'Delia' Patsy thought. Though the words were said inside, her mind made the effort not the make its own sigh of relief.

'Pasty Mount' . The Welsh lilt framed the words more delicately than Patsy felt, but they were home. Delia said Patsy's name tightly towards the end. Even from the metres distance they currently were Patsy could tell she was smirking. She knew exactly the effect she had on Patsy, and love to show it off in front of anyone just off their train of thought.

And Patsy had the same effect on Delia.

They both stood in the dead of night unwilling to remove themselves from the comfort that darkness brought to them both. It had done years now and meetings in the dark were something they would never give up...
