A case gone wrong causes Judy to struggle with a life of guilt and regrets that affect both her personal and professional life. She feels there is only one way to end this pain and suffering. Find the perpetrator, and end her.

Judy and Nick have been partners for a year and things have been relatively quiet since their first case. When Bogo calls them in for a covert case, they will soon learn that they knew much less about each other than they thought. Several months have passed since the Nighthowler case, and Nick and Judy are among the best duo on the ZPD. However, when Nick starts finding his collar getting tight when he thinks of his partner, he'll have to confront the hardest truth he's ever had: maybe he's not as smooth as he thinks he is.

Nick's transfer to another precinct separates Judy and him for two years until he invites her to a weekend beach trip. Unfortunately, during those two years, Judy has lost the joy she once had due to the harsh realities of her job. With her memories of Nick being the only reliable coping method, she hopes by seeing him again, she will be able to learn how to be happy again.

When Judy realizes that her friendship with Nick may be something more, she must make a decision that will affect the rest of her life.

My interpretation of what the original plot structure for Zootopia might have turned out to be had the creators gone through with it.
