Jacob brings Bella straight home from the beach (rather than his house) after having saved her from drowning. He goes to see how Harry Clearwater and the others are doing at the hospital, telling her he'll be back soon, and that someone from the pack is close by guarding the house. She falls asleep - when she wakes up, she's got a bad fever and a couple of unexpected visitors.
