This picks up 3 weeks after Matilda's parents leave her in Miss Honey's care. I've always loved the relationship between Matilda and Miss Honey and thought that it would be a very unique experience adopting a child like Matilda. Matilda is a survivor of childhood trauma and she seems remarkably well adjusted despite the abandonment and verbal and emotional abuse she experienced.
