Repetition's Regular Rant:

Rant #1: Naruto and Hinata romance stories.

I'll be the first to admit, I'm horrible at romance stories. I try them regularly, but I can never seem to get them down pact. However, sometimes I'll read some of the other romance stories on this site, and I realize that while I may not be the best at the romance genre, I can be a lot worse.

I remember, one time I saw an author write this in his or her summary:

"I'm tired of the NaruHina stories where Hinata goes from unnoticed by Naruto, to cleaning out his tonsils in 20 minutes, or two paragraphs."

I don't remember exactly where I saw that, or who authored the story, but I remember the summary very well. I actually had to let my eyes linger to that sentence for quite a while, because I exactly agreed; it was redundant, and quite boring.

I'm not going to name the story, but one time I read the first chapter of a story where Hinata went from crying because Naruto wasn't noticing her, to literally having sex with him by the end of the chapter. The chapter wasn't even that long: around 1K words, so the author didn't really have an excuse.

That ticked me off there. I mean, the rest of the story definitely made up for it, but it seemed really rushed, like she just wanted to get to the fun part really quickly. I confess, I'm not the best at pacing, but come on, people. Really.

My favorite NaruHina fic is probably 'Team 8'. That had me depressed; not just because of the story content, but because I felt that I would never be as good an author as that author. I made an account, however, just to prove to myself that I can be. That story had excellent pacing, character development, everything. Just wonderful.
