This tale begins with Ariel dissolving into sea foam, ascending to godhood, and saving Gaston. All of Beauty and the Beast (1991 Disney film) happened as is, but in The Little Mermaid (1989 Disney film) Ariel failed and became sea foam like in the Hans Christian Andersen story.
