Author has written 1 story for Naruto. I' m Kristy and I am currently working on my first FanFiction story. After years of reviewing I find it time for me to put myself out there and write my own story prompted by a competition with a fellow author. Fanfiction is experiencing a steady downfall.. Before I explain let me define some of my terms. Poor Quality Story: Punctuation is so awful it's hard to ignore and sometimes has you confused as it can have multiple interpretations or implications due to errors. Spelling is so bad you wonder if they made really careless errors or that language is not their first language. Organization is so poor you can't tell if you're in a flashback, different location of peeking into the future. Plot just keeps jumping around for no true purpose even till the end. Shallow characters which are very unrealistic even in fictional stories. Logic is unethical and no established personality within any character. Flames:People who are angry at the world so they use the mistakes in your story as an excuse to abuse you. Criticism:People that may or may not like you but give honest (not blatant) opinions and corrections from (and with) respect, interest and/or concern. Immature:People who are selfish and self-absorbed to the point where they believe the world exists to serve them and anytime someone crosses their ideals they are infuriated like the greatest injustice was done to them. Monster: People who create qualities in a person by deception that can be perceived as obnoxious. Usually by accident, negligence or for the sake of entertainment. These monsters become more and more difficult to help as they nurture these self-destructive traits and become more and more wrapped up and consumed by them. They can still be brought back by love and care. Virus: People whom other people don't have the energy to deal with so they continue to exist and poison FanFiction with their bitterness and hate. Anything is possible but by this term you think it's a lost cause trying to help them. There are two main reasons why I am encountering more omens that predict the apocalyptic end of FanFiction. The Good Ones Are Dying Out:How hard is it nowadays to find a good quality story. The search proves that the chances get smaller and smaller. You probably haven't noticed and I too thought that the authors were improving in comparison to my first day on FanFiction. However the other day I fell into a depression upon meeting one of the virus like authors still alive, they are killing FanFiction but we will get to that live example later. Fewer and fewer talented authors are sticking around probably due to the flooding of non-committed, thrill-seeking people and their poor quality stories. With increasing poor examples to follow no wonder, no one is guiding them or steering them in the right direction. FanFiction is unfortunately re-educating and de-culturilizing and I don't call it evolution, I call it Armageddon. No One Knows Good Quality Anymore: I go and read a classical poor quality story and it's like the blind leading the blind. I see reviews like 'good chappy' and 'please update,' no true criticism meant to better the author. We are here to build each other up on blood and bricks, not bubbles and butterflies. EXAMPLE: I originally had a private messaging conversation up but I decided to take it down as I considered the possibility of that person feeling victimized. Do you understand the kind of monsters FanFiction is creating when you all don't give the authors the much needed constructive criticism. They think it's the occasional attacker when they get these rare criticisms. Let me give you another example coincidentally from the same person. I have decided to take down their username considering they didn't give me the permission to post this private message. This person is a good example of a monster. EXAMPLE: Blocked A response to your review at http://www.fanfiction.net/r/8119610/ Thank you for your comments on my punctuation. Your time might be better spent, however, correcting the punctuation of stories where the authors write like 'i wuz lyke dont say that', not mine Me If you have the ability to spot these errors why don't you do your fellow authors a favor and correct them so they can better themselves. You know what your problem is? You don't like to be corrected. When someone corrects you, it's not that they don't like you or that you are inferior but they care about you enough to at least tell you something to make you better. You weren't born perfect, in fact far from. So cool it with your bratty attitude before it's too late. You take it like I was attacking you. How old are you anyway. Wake up people. You are FanFiction. You are creating these people. It comes to the point where people actually want this. They are asking for this garbage. They know no better and it's in high demand hence the reason why it's all over the place. I have enough inspiration for my characters from the characters traipsing around and spewing this rubbish on FanFicition. You can take the blue pill or the red pill. These omens are nothing in comparison to the main killer. They can be fixed but this omen is all about the approach. To put out the fire would you add gasoline? The Biggest Omen: The fighting! The fighting between authors and flamers, flamers and reviewers even authors and reviewers. It creates monsters who graduate to viruses. It is killing FanFiction. The venom! The hate! It's sickening to see one of my favorite sites going straight to hell. If you want a good dose of high blood pressure go to this link. The chaos, it will just kill you. It's a sad link with symptoms resulting in a terminal disease. http://www.fanfiction.net/topic/78623/29505225/1/ Symptoms: 1 Viruses :People who are hurting due to their circumstances and are looking for outlet giving birth to flamers (according to my definition). This ultimately makes a never ending cycle of hurt as the pain and/or urge to cause pain never goes away. The interesting part is in this set of viruses they are constantly trying to justify as though they must keep convincing that they are 'good' and that what they are doing isn't wrong. Their defenses have huge gaps in it and their actions and/or beliefs show contradictory at times but their stated motive is agreeable and understandable. (I think it's a beautiful idea, just that sometimes they rub people the wrong way.) 2 Monsters : It was the wrong day, wrong time and the ignorant monsters -authors- (created by FanFiction) are out for blood. Sometimes the Viruses do have a point but none of the monsters take them on because they are monsters. They just want to keep doing what they're doing. 3 Flamers : Practically everyone there could be considered a flamer as no one is really getting anything done from this constant arguing that contain at best a little of the truth. They don't even give people a way out, a way for them to fearlessly make amends or even an incentive. They all need to have some compassion in their hearts. 4 Undetectable to the Infected: Smart people who realize that it makes no sense to even attempt to intervene as they are so set in there ways and can't get a different point of view on their actions. It's a vicious battle that apparently can't be stopped. The only reason why I bothered to write about (it makes you lose a little faith in humanity) is because I'm determined to document the explanation behind the downfall of FanFiction. There needs to be a change, some love and peace. What do these omens really predict? What are we really looking at? We know FanFiction may end as we know it but how? What do we do?
