Hi, my name is Steve Jones from Colchester, England. Since as far back as I can remember my life has revolved around plants in one way or another. I was brought up on the fruit and veg markets of London and spent my whole working life as a greengrocer.

My love of gardening only bloomed around 5 years ago when I was recovering from a stroke. My eldest son introduced me to gardening as a therapeutic method of healing.
I never knew the first thing about gardening (but I did know a lot about the end results!), so I set out getting as much experience as I could - both mentally through books and physically through the act of gardening.

The problem I found was that although I would read how to do something in the garden - I could never remember it (a side effect of having a stroke), so I started taking notes... after realising I could never find my notes when I needed them - I decided to move them over to the computer.

As well as reading gardening books and getting physical practice I also drew resource from the internet. It wasn't until a few years ago I realised that there was a lot of ideas and information I had collected that wasn't on anyone else's website. So I decided to set up my own website to share what I know with other gardeners.

My son is a web developer by trade and set me up a website I could manage myself. I spent a lot of time moving all my information over to the website and in around 2015, we launched Growing-Guides.

Growing-Guides consists of tutorials, how to guides, interesting facts, things to watch out for, what's best to grow and when, sowing guides and a whole lot more gardening information.
I also offer a \ask a question\ section of my website where I reply to gardeners who need help in the garden.

As I continue to learn more about growing plants in my garden - you can guarantee there will be more growing-guides on my website!
