The first time Regina and Emma saw each other again after the former's adventure was not in the way Emma wanted it, not in the slightest, but when does anything ever really go the way that Emma wanted? But now Regina's back in Storybrooke, all isn't how it was when she left. What will happen when the two discover what happened while they were apart and Emma learns of the new curse?

In order to save everybody in Storybrooke, Regina sends Emma and Henry - the thing she loves most - off to a fresh start in New York. 15 months later she knocks on the door to the Swan apartment only to see that things aren't quite as she had dared hope they would be. [Swanqueen endgame]

A/U: Emma starts work at the local hardware store and finds out the woman who caught her eye is her new boss. Regina seems to be happy and is engaged with a son but the more time they spend together, the more Regina finds Emma is filling a void she didn't realize was there. Fic will cover several years. Based loosely off the concept from What Happens In Vegas. Always competing, Emma and Regina find themselves getting just a bit carried away one night. In the morning both are shocked to find their situation has changed and in a town with magic, not everything is so easily fixed. The two suddenly have to find some way to get along before one does't make it out alive.

Afraid of what she'll do to Snow, Emma and Henry kidnap an enraged and heartbroken Regina and take her out of Storybrooke so that she can heal in a place without magic. Along the way, they help each other deal with the traumas and mistakes of their pasts and move towards a possible future together as a family. Post THE MILLER'S DAUGHTER. Semi-graphic slow burn SQ. Emma finally comes up with the perfect plan to get Regina to go on a date with her: Ask. Now she just needs her to say yes. Upon Regina's banishment, the small town of Storybrooke becomes protected once again by an enchantment that prevents anyone from leaving or entering Storybrooke. Emma and Regina find themselves on the edge of the town, wishing for a way to the other side.
