One "missed moment" from each and every episode of Castle. Moments that I think could have taken a slightly more M-rated route.

But then it's the way her face lights up when she sees her, and, more importantly it's the shriek of "Mommy!" that has her taking a step backwards. (Time travel AU, of a sort, set after 47 seconds)

"Is this it?" She suddenly felt like dying, dread and sadness settling so heavy in her heart, she almost expected Jane to gasp at the unexpected gain of weight on top of him. "Is this what?", he asked. He could barely hear her over the sound of rain on the roof. "Is this... what you've lost?" - Ties into "Dreaming of White", but can be read separately. It wasn't planned, wasn't a date, but when he'd shown up looking striking in his suit and with his arm empty, she'd gravitated to him like she always did, her whole body orienting toward him as if he was her shining beacon in a dark, starless night. "She still expected him to smell of sunscreen and salt and sand, but he didn't. She didn't know if he ever had. The only time she had been this close to him was when he had hugged her at the airport and she had been too stunned, anxious and hyped up to register anything else aside from the fact, that he was actually THERE." This is inarguably the worst thing she's ever agreed to. She consciously forces her limbs to relax, tries to block out the knowledge of the set of eyes that are irrevocably fixated on every one of her movements.

He's pretty sure he convinced the lady with the smoky voice that he knew exactly what he was doing, knew how to give her a good time. A variation on the 'Vice Beckett' theme. For ER, on request.

The silence of the night is her enemy. Set after 2x13, "Sucker Punch."

He is sluggish, floating; a nebulous drift into awareness as her scent surrounds him, teases him; so vividly burned into every layer of his skin after today that he is sure he's dreaming. Sequel to LURE.

Suddenly tomorrow doesn't seem early enough. "I've got a better idea," he smiles tentatively, holds out his right arm for her. "Come with me." Set post 4x22, Undead Again. NO Spoilers for season finale. NOW COMPLETE.

She didn't expect it to be like this. Maybe she should have. Three years. So much time. So much waiting, wanting, aching. Too long for it not to come to this.
