Author has written 3 stories for Naruto, and Inuyasha. COMIC PRIVIEW: Cursed I don’t know how many people have heard of me, in this world but I know it’s not very many. I’m a local artist and writer of Mauston, WI. The reason you may not have heard of me before is because I don’t have any published works yet. But believe you me; before the year of 2006 is over I plan to change all of that. I have begun work on a story that I’m sure will make an excellent comic script. It is a new original idea of mine, but it still needs to perfected. I have written an over view or a preview of what the first issue will be like. Though I warn you, don’t go off of it completely or you’ll probably get the wrong idea. I’m telling you now I don’t intend to start in the very beginning, instead it will be more or less captivated in flash backs. I will not tell you my real name, but I will tell you what I intend to use as my pen name. Raven; that’s it, short and simple. The title of this story will be cursed, due to the history of the main character’s life. That is all I have to say right now. I will try to publish my progress on Live Journal on a weekly basis, but I’m a very forgetful person so don’t get too mad if I forget. ~Raven Here's the preview. Cursed Profile Name: Dare Age: 16 Birth Date: March 14 Height: 5’6” Weight: 110 lbs Hair: dark blue Eyes: blood red Race: Demon/Human Distinguishing Traits: Demon Markings, Black Angel Like Wings Current Location: NYC 14 Years Ago at an Unknown Location “Come on, Drake. We’ll be late!” Yelled a two year old Dare at her twin brother. “Okay, I’m coming.” Drake ran after his sister, a smile plastered to his face. Suddenly he stopped. “Dare who’s that?” Drake pointed to a man in the shadow of an alley. The man stepped out of the shadows and started to walk in the direction they had just been heading. “Let’s see what he’s up to Drake.” Dare slowly started to follow the man, but Drake grabbed her arm. “Wait! What if he’s a criminal or something?” “Oh don’t be silly Drake. Come on!” Dare ran after the man keeping to the shadows, with Drake only a few steps behind her. The man walked out into the town plaza and over to the temple. He climbed the steps and disappeared inside. Dare and Drake followed. The man was kneeling down in front of the alter and appeared to be praying. Until the Priestess of the temple came over to him and asked him why he was there. The man smirked and stood up. He turned to face her; from a holster concealed in his clothing he pulled out a gun. He said; “I’m here to kill you darling.” The gun went off and blood splattered everywhere. Dare screamed. This couldn’t be happening; she ran over to the woman on the floor and fell to her knees, crying. The man laughed evilly and kicked Dare away from the woman. “I never expected to find more vermin here. I guess today is my lucky day.” Dare looked at him; hate burning in her eyes. “My mother is not vermin! And neither am I!” Dare’s eyes began to glow and the wind picked up around her. “You’re the vermin! And you’re going to die!” “Dare wait, don’t kill him! It’s not right!” Drake tried to restrain her, but failed. “Get away from me Drake! I can handle this myself!” Dare made a few motions with her hands and disappeared. “Heh. Seems like your sister abandoned you boy. I’ll kill you and then, after I’m done, I’ll track her down and kill her too.” Dare reappeared above the man’s head and rammed into it, knocking him into the stone floor. “Who says I abandoned him!” Dare flipped up and came down on his head again with a sickening crunch. Blood seeped away from the man and covered the floor; while Dare hovered above him watching. Drake crawled over to the man and checked his heartbeat. He was still alive, but he wasn’t going to tell Dare. Slowly Dare came down and landed next to Drake, she was crying. She couldn’t believe what she had done. 8 Years Later Location Unknown Dare screamed as she awoke from her unpleasant slumber. It was that nightmare again; the one she had been having since she was two years old. That was an awful long time to have the same nightmare almost every night, one would think it would get old after awhile. But every time Dare had that dream she either woke up crying, screaming, or both. That wasn’t supposed to happen, not to her anyways. Dare was suppose to have been trained how to suppress and hide her emotions. Shaking away her thoughts Dare got up from her bed and checked the time; it was six am. At least she didn’t have to go back to bed. So instead she went to her closet and go dressed. Today her adoptive father, Drake, and her were going somewhere. Dare’s father said it was important that they went with him, since they were once going to rule over this land as he does now. But before they had been named his heirs, he had kept them in the castle in secret and had specialists teach them how to control and completely hide their powers. For instance they could hide the demon marking on their skin or absorb their wings into their backs so they couldn’t be seen. In order to learn these things they had went through very dangerous and painful tests. Dismissing the memory, Dare went downstairs to the kitchen to find her brother and foster father waiting for her. She suddenly realized that they had promised to meet here at 6:15. She wanted to laugh, but didn’t, she had forgotten all about it but still gotten there on time. How ironic was that? They traveled for at least an hour before they arrived. It was a prison; he had taken them to a prison, of all the places why here? He motioned for them to follow him inside. Inside was like a torture chamber, which after a few moments Dare found out it was, the walls were covered in blood, and the floor was strewn with blood, flesh, and bones. It made Dare want to throw up and run away. But she couldn’t do either, it would be shameful and she would be punished severely later. Quietly she followed her brother and father towards the sounds of screaming. He was going to show them how to torture people! Now Dare really did want to leave. Dare and Drake were led into a dimly lit room, where a man was hanging from his wrists, suspended from the ceiling. He was covered in dirt and his own blood. “We’ve been at this for hours sir and he still won’t talk.” Their father nodded as he walked up to the man. “Do you want me to spare you?” “Yes… please… sir… spare… me…” “Very well, but first you must tell me if you know where your companions are hiding.” “They… were headed… for… Heonton Village…” “Hmm. Thank you for the information.” He turned to one of the torturers. “Kill him.” All Dare could do was watch in horror as the man was whipped to death, and in those moments she lost all the respect she had ever had for her foster father. 4 Years Later “Today I will name which one of my two children will be my official heir. The one who wasn’t chosen will receive a penalty. It’s a shame I have to do this because they are both very beautiful and I don’t wish to shame either of them. They are my children after all.” He turned to the guard next to him. “Bring them out.” He looked down at the opening stone doors at the entrance of the town square. Two figures walked away from them. One male. One female. They made their way to the center of the crowd and a place was cleared for them to stand. Both of them bowed to the ruler in unison. “I know you all want to know who my successor will be, and so I will tell you. My successor will be Dare.” Many people in the crowd gasped, never before had any ruler chosen a woman as his successor. Dare herself was greatly taken aback, as was Drake. They both had expected him to be chosen, not her. “The reason, my people, I have chosen Dare is because I can see that she is full of the darkness that I am filled with and I know she will follow in my footsteps.” Now Dare was angry; to say something like that about her was horrid, she wasn’t like that at all. Was she? “Now to decide the penalty Drake faces for failing to please me. The only option is death, don’t you agree?” He smirked nastily. Drake hung his head as soldiers bound his hand together and pushed and pulled him off to where the burning stake stood. Dare could feel every single emotion he felt at that moment. Sadness, hate, anger, jealousy, fear, and terror even. She couldn’t take it; Dare fell to her knees and stayed like that until she was forced to get up by a guard. By that time Drake was tied to the stake and the timbers were piled all around him. She wanted to run to him, to save him, to protect him, and to help him. But for some reason she couldn’t bring herself to do it. “Drake I’m sorry that I can’t help you. I’m sorry, but please forgive me. “Dare don’t be sorry, it’s not your fault.” The timber was set aflame, and within seconds Drake caught fire. No more did he hide what he truly was in those last moments. The people saw him for was he was and not what he had pretended to be. His short black hair, his two toned eyes, and his white and black wings; they could see it all. He was crying, from his silver eye were normal tears, and from his blood red eye; tears of blood. Then he was gone and Dare was ashamed and alone for the very first time in her life. The Present- New York City “I need I place to stay, but I can’t find one. No one here is kind enough to let a stranger share his or her home for the night. I’ve been to every place in this side of town, but still no luck. My last chance is that building over there.” Dare rang the doorbell and waited for someone to answer. “Teen Hero Association? I wonder what that means.” A few moments later a boy with messy green hair opened the door. “Hello how may I help you?” He greeted. “My name is Dare, and I was wondering maybe you’d let me stay the night here since it’s raining and I have no where else to go.” “Sure come on in.” He smiled and swung the door open wide for her; gingerly she stepped inside. The boy quickly closed the door behind her. “I’m Lord Follen. It’s a pleasure to meet you Dare.” He stuck out his hand for her to shake; hesitantly she took it and hurriedly pulled away. Lord Follen laughed a little. “I can tell your not used to handshakes. Say you don’t look like your average poor person on the streets, why were you out there anyways?” “I ran away from home.” “Oh I see. Why did you do that?” Painful images of Drake’s death flashed through her mind. “I don’t want to talk about it.” “What’s with the hood?” He gestured towards her hood. “I don’t like to show my face is all.” “Oh, well I won’t laugh or anything if you do take it off so if you do feel like showing it feel free to.” Dare sighed, she knew he wouldn’t leave her alone until she revealed her face. Slowly she pulled it down away from her head. “Wow..” “What?” “Its just that I don’t understand why you hide your face. I mean you’re beautiful.” Dare blushed. Did he really think that? “Oh yeah you wanted a room right? If you don’t have anywhere to go you don’t have to leave tomorrow, you can stay until we can find you somewhere to go.” He began to lead her up a long flight of stairs. “I’m sorry but I must ask what this place is.” “You mean you don’t know?” Dare shook her head no. “Well this is a place where teens with special powers gather and form a team. We fight off bad guys and stuff. Ya know if you have any sort of power you can just join our team and you won’t have to leave.” “Really? I kind of do have some powers.” “Okay then, show me something I wouldn’t see everyday to prove it then.” Dare nodded and removed her cloak. She began to concentrate and slowly two black angel-like wings formed on her back. Follen just stood there, gapping at her. “Is that enough of a demonstration?” Dare waited for an answer and she absorbed her wings back into her now torn shirt. Follen picked up her cloak and handed it to her. “Thank you.” She took it and put it on. “That was amazing. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like it. So, since you’re on the team now what kind of room would you like?” “If possible somewhere dark, but facing towards where the sun sets.” “Okay. I know just the place.” He walked over to an elevator and opened it. Once they were both inside he pressed floor number 21. Dare started to become a little nervous as they rode the elevator. Something dinged and the doors opened; Follen stepped out of the elevator and she followed. Follen led her down a very dark hallway; close to the end he stopped and put his hand on a pad right outside it. “Computer have this room assigned to our newest member; Dare.” The computer responded. “DNA SCAN REQUIRED FOR NEW MEMBER IN ORDER FOR REQUEST TO BE ACCEPTED.” “Dare put your hand on the pad to be scanned.” Dare nodded and carefully placed her hand on the pad. It beeped and flashed. The computer accepted her DNA scan and the door slid open. It revealed quite a large room, with black walls, a huge window covered with black curtains, a bed, two closets, a bathroom, a bookshelf, and a dresser. “Well this is were we say goodbye.” He took her hand and kissed it. “Goodnight M’lady.” He bowed and walked away. Dare stood there for the longest time staring down the hall where he had disappeared into the darkness. Finally she turned and went inside the room. Dare immediately began to shed her clothes and headed for the bath. She couldn’t remember when was the last time she had a long hot shower like this. It felt wonderful as it ran over all her features. Dare sighed. “All I wanted when I knocked on the door of this place was a place to sleep and maybe something to eat. Never did I expect to find a new home here.” After her shower Dare slumped on her new bed and fell asleep. “Hey, sleepyhead! Wake up!” It was Follen, pounding on her door. Dare jolted awake. “Follen? What is it?” “The rest of the team wants to meet you and check out your powers.” “Umm… okay. I’ll be out in a minute.” Sleepily, Dare rose from her bed and pulled on her clothes. Shuffling her feet as she went; Dare left her room. Silently she descended the stairs. Right before she got to the common room, Dare pulled her hood up. “Ah, and here she is now.” Follen was talking to some guy with really pale skin and gold eyes. “Okay everyone, this is Dare. Introduce yourselves.” The guy Follen had just been talking to went first. “I’m Vathu.” A guy with a bow and arrows went after him. “Hey, I’m Lance.” Another guy followed him. “The name’s Backbone.” Then the last one and only other girl on the team went. “Hi I’m Hina.” “Dare in order to finalize your membership of the T.H.A. you have to give us a demonstration of your powers.” Follen signaled for them all to follow as he led them out of the room and down a few floors. He stopped outside one of the doors that lined the hallways. Quickly he accessed the control panel and opened the door; inside was a training room. “Ok Dare, pick your opponent.” “You. I’ll pick you Follen.” Lance and Backbone started to laugh, Dare turned to face them. “What’s so funny?” Lance answered her. “Well it’s just that no one has ever beaten Lord Follen in a match. He’s way to tough for you girl.” “We’ll see.” Dare growled back at him. Follen led her out onto the floor and got into a battle stance. Dare followed suit. “First one to land a hit wins.” Follen charged at her and punched at her face; she dodged it easily. Follen turned and tried again; darkness gathered around Dare and she disappeared before it hit. He kind of stood there for a few seconds, dumbstruck. Dare reappeared behind him and kicked his feet out from underneath him. “I guess that means I win, right?” Lance and Backbone were staring at her wide-eyed. Follen got up and brushed off his pants; he was smiling at her. “Umm… I think I’m going to go up to the roof and think for a while. Okay?” They nodded. Dare again called the darkness to her and vanished. This time she turned up on the roof of the T.H.A.’s headquarters. She turned to look at the rest of the city; it seemed so peaceful this early in the morning. Warm arms wrapped themselves around her from behind; it startled her. Dare turned to see the face of the man behind her, it was Follen. She was drawn to his eyes; they stared into each other’s eyes for what seemed like an eternity. Cautiously, Follen began to bend down to kiss her. Dare, for once, followed her instincts and leaned into him; her hood fell away from her face. Their lips met for the first time, at first Dare was a little nervous, but eventually she relaxed in his arms and deepened the kiss. After several minutes, they pulled away; breathless. “Wow…” Breathed Follen. Dare was speechless, the only thing she could think of to do was kiss him again, and she did. This time longer and deeper than before, never had Dare experienced these emotions before; it was exhilarating. Slowly they pulled away and sunk to the ground. Dare rested her head on his lap and he gently ran his fingers through her hair. “Follen?” “Yeah?” “I think I’m falling in love with you.” 2 Days Later “Okay team today we’re going to the beach to have some fun. I we’re all long over due for a day off so it’s not optional. You have to go.” Follen smiled coolly at them; over the last few days Dare had been getting to know everyone here and the history of their organization. Including the part where Follen is their leader. “Alright everyone let’s move out.” Once they got down to the garage, Follen walked over to something that was covered in a tarp and handed Dare a helmet. Dare took it and looked it over, curious about what it was. “Umm… Follen, what is this thing?” He laughed. “That is a helmet. You put it on your head, and it protects it while we drive.” While Follen uncovered his motorcycle, Dare experimented with ways to put the helmet on. Unfortunately she didn’t quite figure it out. Laughing, Follen fixed her helmet. “Say, Lance those two have gotten awfully close over the last couple days. Kind of odd isn’t it?” “Nah… I don’t think it’s odd, Backbone, I think it’s natural. Those two are a perfect couple.” Backbone grimaced. “You don’t mean to say you think they’re actually together, together do you?” “That’s exactly what I’m saying, BB. But for now just shut up and start up the car will ya?” “What is that thing?” Questioned Dare. “It’s a motorcycle.” “What’s a motorcycle?” “Get on and I’ll show you.” Dare gingerly slid behind Follen and sat down. “Now put your arms around my waist and hold on tight.” Dare did what she was told. Follen gunned the engine and they sped off. He started off at about sixty mph and in seconds was up to at least one hundred and twenty mph. Dare held on as tight as she could; clinging to Follen desperately. It took them about fifth teen minutes to get to the beach, and even after Follen had stopped; Dare still didn’t want to let go of his waist. But eventually he convinced her it was all right and she timidly let go of him and got off the motorcycle. “Are you sure that thing is safe?” “Yes Dare, it’s perfectly safe.” “But it’s so huge, I’ve never seen such a vast amount of water in one place.” “You can swim, right?” “Yes, of course I can swim.” “Good.” Follen lifted her up into his arms and started to carry her over to the water. He waded out a bit and then set her down. “There, is it really that bad?” “Actually, no.” Without warning she dove down under the surface and swan off to a deeper section of the water; Follen followed her. But it didn’t take her long to disappear from his view. “Dare? Dare where are you?” Follen could feel something at his feet; by the time he realized it was Dare she had already pulled him under with her. Dare had let go of his foot and right now in a very vulnerable position. Follen ceased the moment and brought her in for a kiss. The second their lips touched, Follen knew she had planned this. Dare deepened the kiss and wrapped her arms around his neck as he wrapped his around her waist. They played this game until the sun was almost set, and it never got old; not once. Wearily they climbed out of the water and lay down on the warm sand. Follen was lying on his back and Dare was snuggled up next to him with her head on his chest. It wasn’t long before she fell into a peaceful slumber. This preview for the comic Cursed is an exclusive feature only for this fanfiction profile and my live journal account.
