About Me:

Well, let's see. I tend to ramble a lot about stupid pointless things and am easily distracted by shiny objects. I guess you could say I'm a pretty big dork. As a matter of fact, you could say I am a huge dork. Like, immense. I'm trying to work on it, although some people say it's part of my charm.

Also, I see no point in merely liking something when you could love it instead.

Despite the fact that I'm 23 years old, I'm still having a hard time getting a handle on this whole "human interaction" thing everybody keeps going on about, so if I offend you let me apologize in advance. Chances are I didn't mean it; I'm just socially handicapped. That and I'm a moron.

My interests are many and varied, but some of the big ones are video games, books, webcomics, contact sports, history, natural science, mechanical things, hot tea, film noir, the Oxford comma, and classic literature.

I love music. As a matter of fact, that might be a slight understatement. I can't deal with silence for more than a few minutes without listening to something, and I possess the apparently maddening quality of being able to listen to the same song over and over and over and never get tired of it until everybody just wants to beat me to death with a baseball bat. I listen to just about everything from pop to hard rock to classical, although my favorite genre is indie.

I just relocated to the Tampa Bay area of Florida to help care for my terminally ill dad, but before that I lived in Dallas, Texas, where I was born and raised. I'm trying to dwell on the positives, of which there are admittedly many, although I am sorely homesick regarding certain things - deciduous trees, winter, sane drivers, chicken fried steak...

On The Subject Of My Writing:

Even though I've been writing for almost as long as I've been able to hold a pencil, I only consider myself to be an average writer - but I love writing and want to improve like burning. My most fervent hope is to one day be able to do justice to the many stories that haunt my brain so that they can bring joy to others. To that end, please do not be afraid to give me constructive criticism. I am not exactly a delicate flower. I promise I can take it.

I have delusions of being published in the future, and to that end I'm currently working on getting several various projects off the ground - the two most notable being a graphic novel and a YA series.

I mostly write genfic and crackfic, but occasionally I will fall in love with a pairing and become temporarily obsessed with it. Given time, I usually revert back to gen and crack, but sometimes it sticks.

I also sometimes enjoy writing about subjects from viewpoints I don't agree with. It helps me to better understand where other people may be coming from.

My writing style tends to be rather sparse and utilitarian. This is owing to the fact that when I describe things I tend to go overboard and write pages upon pages of florid prose that don't really say anything. Believe me, we are all better off without it. I always envy people who have a poetic flair, but I suppose there is merit in straightforwardness as well. Brevity is the soul of wit and all that.

I'm an anal-retentive grammar freak, and yet I've seen so many people make the loose/lose typo that I'm starting to get them mixed up as well. Please send help.

I also have a terrible time writing serious stories; they all seem to mutate into crackfics.

Typically, the more I like a character, the more I like to torture them.

Other Random Things About Me As I Think Of Them:

- I have an irrational fear of heartbeats and of deep sea fish. Sometimes I think a fear of deep sea fish is actually rather normal (because look how creepy they are - I mean honestly, that's just Not Of The Lord right there), except for that part where they live so deep that I will never encounter one and yet I am terrified of an elbowed squid coming into my bedroom at night and throttling me in my sleep, so maybe it's not actually that normal.
- A lot of people tell me that before they got to know me, they were terrified of me. Some of them even thought I was a delinquent. TV Tropes tells me this is because I am a Kuudere, apparently.
- I play piano, clarinet, and the bass guitar, but I have always wanted to play the cello. Alas, ours is a doomed love.
- I was a straight-A, International Baccalaureate caliber English student... except I absolutely Do Not Get poetry. At all. It's so embarrassing.
- I am a compulsive book buyer. I have nearly an entire bookcase full of books I haven't even opened once. It is my hope to one day read them all. Of course, by that point, I will probably have another bookcase or two full. Oh dear.
