Welp. Just when I think I'm out they pull me back in...

I wrote briefly on this site a few years back. It was a Matrix-themed labour of love called 'The Cave', written in 2003 and re-posted in 2007, that integrated an idea from Plato's Republic into an OC parallel story. The story is still online, but I can no longer access the account. Part of the creation of this account is to reclaim that original work...an possibly finish it. As an exercise, anyhow. One can only improve a craft through practice. *reads some* Wha- where the hell did this songfic part come from? Augh- anyway. Might clean it up a bit on the way through as well. WOW. I was definitely younger then. The point is, expect rewrites, less sassy, more...contact? There will be beatings where beatings are due, not passive-aggresive sassiness. No more 'cocked heads' (my characters are not small dogs). Mature will mean Mature, and cover more than swearing. And eventually, an ending. I would love feedback on this piece.

I suppose that's what this is, the be honest. There really isn't an original thought left out there, but building on the worlds of others is little more than an exercise in love, patience and grit. Some thoughts are less original than others, and for those ones the audience is right here as the more artfully arranged ones can later benefit from the development of dialogue and plot-building. I've done a lot of academic and technical writing since that last story. I've done a bit of original writing as well. The latter one is more fun, but the most enduring and complex ideas I've come up with would only ever see the light of day here, at least until they can be evolved organically.

Of course, the opportunity to sharpen my skills for NaNoWriMo doesn't hurt either...

So. That's enough about how great writing is, and how early writing is always kind of terrible. I have several interests. There's Portal- Cave Johnson is hilarious (goddamn lemons). There is the Science, and the Fiction. Gibson is a good choice. G.R.R. Martin is surprisingly addictive, in spite of (or because of) its content. There's Resident Evil. Zombies are generally a win. World War Z seems to leave the door open to the entire zombie horror sub-genre, as long as you follow the Rules. I used to be mad about the Matrix, to the point I could forgive to terrible sequels. I like Lord of the Rings, but fear that I could never do it justice.

The incidence of flash is more probable than that of long prose. Stand by for testing.
