You can call me Nivean or Niv, either one. The name comes from the Nivea skin care line, which I love. Hey, a name's got to come from somewhere, right? I didn't write much until I took a Creative Writing Course in school for extra credit. I took it to bring up my average, and it turned out to be one of the hardest classes I've ever taken. On the bright side, I found out that I love to write! Not enough to be an author, but enough to dabble with it from time to time. So, that's why I'm here.

.On Receiving Reviews- Receiving reviews is lovely, and I really appreciate them. However, I need to be honest; reviews will not influence how often I update. Still, criticism is fantastic. I would like to know if everyone is enjoying reading my stories as much as I enjoy writing them.

.On Giving Reviews- I love giving reviews as much as I love receiving them. Just as I want to make my writing better, I like help others do the same. So, my reviews will usually criticize something. I try to be as kind as I can. I won't point out stylistic problems however, because everyone should have the opportunity to develop his or her own style.

.What I'll Write- Usually depends on how I'm feeling. Some stories I love but can't bring myself to write about, and others I don't like as much, but find the characters too fascinating to leave alone. Then, of course, there's my not-so-secret obsessions.

While I generally move through fandoms quickly, there are three that I will always come back to: Star Wars/Jedi Apprentice, Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter.

Star Wars- I'm an Obi-Wan Kenobi fan. Always have been and always will be. I also love Qui-Gon and Anakin, but not alone. Secondary characters that will usually show up in my writings are Xanatos, Bant, Garen, Mace Windu and Yoda. I dislike Dooku and tend to villainize him.

Lord of the Rings- Aragorn is my favorite, especially as Estel. Secondary characters which may show up are Legolas, Haldir, Elladan, Elrohir, Elrond, Glorfindel and Erestor. The elves always make stories more interesting.

Harry Potter- I've always loved Hermione. Harry Potter is an exception in my world, because it's the only fandom where I prefer to write romance. I've always liked pairing Hermione with unexpected characters (such as Draco, or Lucius, or a young Tom Riddle). I've never had much love for Ron, and but I like to throw Harry into the mix (usually with Ginny).

I'm a stickler for detail and keeping the stories realistic. While there will always be AU elements, I like to keep everything else in order unless otherwise specified.

.On Slash- Yes, I'll write slash. Nothing graphic though.

.What I'll Read- Is vastly broader than what I'll write. If I've just seen a movie with interesting characters or read a really good book, you can bet that I've checked the fics as well. Unfortunately, if it outside the three I mentioned above, I'll probably only stick in that particular fandom for a few days.

Other fandoms I've looked at are Pirates of the Caribbean, Wicked (the musical), Transformers (the movies), The Dresden Files/Codex Alera (for those of you who don't know Jim Butcher, these are killer sci-fi/fantasy reads), Harper's Island, Gossip Girl, Moulin Rouge, Phantom of the Opera... there are many more.

I also admit that I've read Twilight fanfiction as well, which I doubt I'll ever go back to. My stance on Twilight is that they are interesting but very poorly written. I enjoyed them when I was younger, but I don't think they're worth all of the media attention they receive. I dislike Bella because she fits too easily into the Mary Sue category, and her character just doesn't develop.

.On Slash- Yes, I'll read slash from time to time, m/m only. To be honest, if something is well written, I can tolerate just about anything.

That being said, there are some things I cannot tolerate in fanfiction. Pregnant males, for example. That is just odd. Also, gender jumping (when a character changes gender). I despise Mary Sues, and generally don't like original characters who somehow become a main character. Finally, I hate carelessness in writing, and if I see it, I'll call you out on it. This could be, for example, a story stuffed with so many errors that I wonder if it was even proof read. The occasional typo is understandable, but when the story is just gibberish, then I find that frustrating.

That's about it, I think. Now, on to the important stuff.
