In the meantime, as soon as Eleven catches sight of Mike, she begins to develop a crush.

Hopper finds Mike alone, walking alongside the road in the middle of one of the worst storms of December, with fresh bruises on his face. Hopper has always been tolerant of the boy, (mostly for El's sake) but the new fatherly concern he feels for the boy is new, and slightly scary.
