Author has written 3 stories for Harvest Moon, and Pokémon. STORY STATUS: Élan vital -- IDEK. Update 8/2/16: Is this site even still alive? xD Update 7/25/16: Okay, let's try this again: i683.photobucket.com/albums/vv196/lolcaterpie/halcyonmap2.jpg Weathered Stone -- Hiatus. Update 8/8/16: Wow, it's been quite a while. I've started rereading this fic after many years of neglecting it, and I've fallen in love with it again. I don't want to get anyone's hopes up, but it is possible I will return to writing Weathered Stone in the future. Update 3/10/12: This hiatus has extended into an abandonment. Don't misunderstand me; I love writing Weathered Stone and it's far from finished! I was holding out hope I'd have enough time in between classes to devote to the continuation of this fanfic, but it looks like that hasn't been the case so far and I don't see my work load lightening until the semester's over. Anyway, I'd prefer to either give the best quality writing I can or nothing at all, and at this point the most I can probably hope to achieve is something lackluster and hastily hashed together (the third and fourth chapters were both victims of this devil-may-care writing process and I still feel slightly guilty for it). Moreover, I realize it is unfair for me to expect reviews after each chapter. No one should have to feel that a fanfic's fate is hinged on their immediate response to the latest chapter. That really isn't the case at all. If not I'm updating in a timely fashion, please keep in mind it's always 100% due to either my own intrinsic laziness or lack of time management. Update 12/11/11: Hey all, sorry to withhold this chapter for so long, but the beginning and ending gave me a bit of trouble – I toyed with the thought of deleting both several times, then realized I was probably being overly critical – and I was loath to submit it without a thorough revising. I've decided to start deleting previous updates. My bio already looks enough like a diary, and you probably don't care all that much about my ramblings. Another alteration you may have noticed to the actual story is the lack of a summary in this chapter. I don't feel they are necessary or add much, and the only reason I continued to put them up in the last two chapters was out of habit and to entice people to read the fic. Long chapters, and moreover, fics that aren't complete, tend to dissuade me from reading (especially when there are unfinished books sitting on my shelf), so I suppose it was a courtesy to people like myself who don't have a lot of time and want to know immediately what the fic is about, where it is set, and which characters are going to be present so they can decide if it is one they might enjoy. By the fifth chapter you probably don't need a summary to know whether or not you like the plot. Oh, and something else that should be mentioned is I bumped the rating up from 'T' to 'M'. Keep in mind, this does not mean that I intend to add any sexually explicit scenes; I just don't want my story deleted for other mature themes that may or may not occur either in the current or later chapters. Anyway, if you've only recently stumbled across this fic and still want to continue reading even after this revelation, then you're a better person than I am as far as reading M-rated fics goes (I'm not going to lie, I have never once thought to myself: “I want to read a fanfic with an engaging plot and flowery descriptions; to the M-rated section!”). Again, I give my gratitude to the lone reviewer: Sunflower Seed. Don't be so hard on yourself! You are very eloquent and helpful when it comes to writing critiques. :) Honestly, the negative things you pointed out were mostly aspects I had already thought about changing. It's kind of hard to be too harsh when the writing is old; time turns my subjectivity inside-out. Granted, negative criticism about my newer chapters will probably be more searing, but that's just something I need to get over if I want to improve. Also, a disclaimer directed toward all readers: the lore in this chapter is of my own invention. Do not take it as canon and feel free to point out even the most minor divergences from the proper canon if it pleases you to do so; just realize you'll probably be filling out entire tomes of corrections in later chapters. It also isn't meant to be religious allegory in any way, I'm not trying to indoctrinate you into any cults; it's only meant for nuance and plot purposes, as the games left a lot unanswered. It may seem to contradict the first chapter, but it doesn't. Trust me. If you're a gifted at solving riddles and puzzles, you've probably already figured out exactly why, but I think, for everyone else, there's enough information to at least speculate somewhat accurately if you read carefully and don't recklessly assume something is true merely because it's implied. Monsters -- Complete. AUTHOR STATUS:
Pen Name: nocturnal messages Gender: A very wise person once told me that gender doesn't exist on the internet--but for the sake of personal pronouns, I am female. Age: Old enough to rent porn, but too young to drink. And much too lame to do either regardless. xD Interests/hobbies: Reading (historical fiction, mostly, and historical non-fiction, seldom), maths, writing/RPing, and occasionally playing video games. I also really like architecture. A lot. Oh, and linguistics fascinates me. c: Areas of Focus: This section is mainly to let reviewers know what weaknesses I'm trying to correct in my writing. Currently, I'm working on improving dialogue and character development. |
