![]() Author has written 18 stories for Sherlock. I was browsing Netflix for something to watch one rainy afternoon a few weeks ago, and I happened onto a new (to me) series from the BBC called Sherlock. By the end of the first episode, I was hooked, and I binge-watched the entire series without coming up for air. It's been years since anything on television inspired me to write, but I couldn't wait to blow the dust off my keyboard for this one. My preferences as a writer are the same as my preferences as a reader. I don't write slash, smut, alternate universe, or shmoop. Spot-on characterizations and strict adherence to canon are very high on my list of priorities. I favor 'missing scenes' and case files. In this new world of UK English, I'm on the hunt for a beta to Britpick my work, so please let me know if you'd like to lend a hand. I would hate for a glaring usage error to pull anyone out of a story, so please don't hesitate to point them out. Like most writers, I have a muse that thrives on feedback. Although I do write for myself, I wouldn't be posting the stories on line if I didn't want to know what you think. All honest comments are welcome. I've already found some great writers in this fandom whose work I can't wait to explore, but my first priority was to get back on the horse with my own contribution. I'm looking forward to starting my next story, and I can't believe there won't be another new episode until December 2015. I guess we'll just have to keep filling in the blanks while we wait. --GhyllWyne, Aug 2014 Updated 25 Apr 2015 - Since Aug 2014, I've completed 8 short stories and two 50k stories (Something Broken and Something Borrowed), the last of which just posted the final chapter this morning. I would say that makes me officially Sherlocked, and happy to be so. I have a third long story in mind, but I'm hesitating because it would be speculation on where series four is headed, and certainly doomed to be canon-blasted. I've set it up in Something Borrowed, which itself ends with a bit of canon-vulnerable speculation. So I'm thinking, in for a penny, in for a pound. If you read Something Borrowed, or any of my other stories, and want to leave a review, please comment about whether you would like to see the canon-vulnerable series four story. Just to help me make up my mind. The BritPick vacancy has been filled by no less then the incomparable sevenpercent. If you spot anything you think she missed, it's either from a story I wrote before she arrived, or one that I tweaked in the middle of the night and posted before she saw it. I tend to do that. Beta work is a chore for someone who goes through as many drafts as I do, and it requires the patience of a saint. Fortunately, I've found two. JolieBlack and sevenpercent. I don't thank them nearly often enough, so I'm adding my thanks here. Thanks so much for reading! GhyllWyne |
