I discovered the joy of reading other people's FF stories a few years ago. It seems I was just ahead of my time, writing about my favorite characters and creating adventures for them, long before anyone called it "fan fiction." But as much as I have written parts of stories, they don't usually make them to completion or even onto paper. (See how old I am. I talk about writing on paper!)

The fandoms I prefer to bounce back and forth between Emergency!(1970's tv show w/ paramedics), Harry Potter (if I have to explain this one, you must have been hiding under a rock some where for the last decade) and last, but certainly not least, the masterful creation of JRR Tolkein - The Lord of the Rings.

Just a few brief words on each fandom.

EMERGENCY

I have been a big fan of Johnny Gage since the show began. This show, I believe, can be credited w/ the career choices of thousands, if not more people, who saw a way they could really help make a positive impact on the world. A lot of that credit goes to the continued efforts of actor Randolph Mantooth who supports fire and rescue work and workers around the world.

HARRY POTTER

I believe JK Rowlings is a wonderfully talented writer. I have read and enjoyed all the books. The later ones were much darker though. That said, I don't believe that Severus Snape should have had to die forgotten and alone.

LORD OF THE RINGS

I must admit a certain fondness for the elves, something about age, wisdom and beauty. And some of the male elves from the movie were not too shabby (Elrond, Legolas & Haldir). Outside of the movies, my favorite character would have to be Lord Glorfindel. I also like well written Tenth Walker stories (one other person added to the Fellowship).

After reading a chapter or a story, I usually try to leave positive reviews. I appreciate those who have shared their words and time, crafted into stories. I do prefer when stories are labeled in some sort of identifying way, so I have at least an inkling about what I might be reading. That could just mean G (general), T (teen) or A (adult). It helps the readers find the sort of stories they are interested in, especially when some fandoms are so huge!

What does bug me are stories that are abandoned for years, but the reader has no warning that there is no ending to the tale. I am no spelling or grammar nazi, but stories that are so chock full of mistakes that the errors take away from the writing do bother me. There are lots of folks who are willing to be beta readers. I think it benefits the writer and the work to have someone review it, before it is published.

While I have been writing in other genres for quite some time, as of Summer 2011 I am actually working on a story, from start to finish, that I hope to be able to share at some point in the near future.

If I ever do manage to get it up, please be gentle.

Summer 2015-

Some newcomers to the fandoms I have been reading- Avengers, Leverage and Sherlock Holmes (BBC version, of course). Some of the cross-overs are fun too.

Thanks to all the writers (and betas who help) for taking the chance and putting their stories "out there."
