Dr. Fischer was Professor of Clinical Pharmacy Practice and Consultant for the Division of General Internal Medicine at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. For over twenty years he has maintained an active clinical practice in the ambulatory care clinics, teaching pharmacotherapy to students, interns and residents in medical, pharmacy and nursing disciplines. Dr. Fischer is a frequent lecturer on various medical topics at meetings, seminars and continuing education courses throughout the United States.
Dr. Fischer received his bachelor of science degree in pharmacy in 1971 from Ohio Northern University and his Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 1976 from the Medical University of South Carolina. He subsequently did a residency in hospital pharmacy at the Medical University Hospital in Charleston. By the age of 40, he was a full professor at the University of Mississippi. During his career, Dr. Fischer has published extensively in the pharmacological, medical and nursing literature.
