As a vampire, Ruby Rose depended on the blood of others to sustain herself. There was only one problem. She hated blood. There very sight of it made her queasy. Some vampire she was! But Ruby needed to eat to survive. So when it came time to feed, and her prey lay sleeping in his bed, she hesitated. Until the young blond boy finally woke up, and wondered just what was going on.

An ordinary life as a bartender was all Jaune expected out of his meager existence. Mixing cocktails and listening to the woes of those who needed an ear were the staples of his night. However, while stumbling down the wrong alleyway our protagonist is thrust into a situation where he'll have to face the things that go bump in the night. Welcome to the Midnight World Mr. Arc.

But as a boy with no huntsmen training, no huntsmen knowledge, and no huntsmen transcripts, he had absolutely no chance of getting into a school like that legally. Neo wants to make Ruby suffer. What better way to do that than target her dearest friend Jaune. She snatches him in the darkness of night, determined to carry out her sadistic plan. Leading the male alliance wasn't part of the plan, nor was becoming mankind's final hope. He was a coward, an idiot and a weakling. It was just a shame no one would believe him when he said so!

He wasn't the strongest, smartest or even the fastest, but if there was one thing Jaune Arc was confident in, it was his culinary skills. Jaune hoped that confidence would transfer to fighting Grimm.
