Last Updated: 06-15-05 Age: 16 Location: U.S. Current obsession: Harry Potter (and has been for a long time) How long I'v been reading on FF.net: I'd say...since I can remember really. Likes: Stories with detail mostly. Character development, believable characters and happenings, new and unique plots, actual PLOT, action and adventure stories with actual action and adventure, mystery and suspense also, well thought out stories. - I sometimes have this fond like for the stories where Harry has a brother and everyone thinks that his brother is The-Boy-Who-Lived but really Harry is and stuff. ...yeah.But usually they don't continue so well... Dislikes: (prepare yourselves)Oh, I could write a whole essay on this topic. MARY-SUES! I believe I speak for everyone when I say that Mary-Sues are absolutely horrible. No, horrible is too mild a word! Anyways, I dislike super-harrys, dark and irrational harrys, suicidal harrys, etc, etc. I. Hate. Dramatic Romance Fics! Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who feels this way because all I see in the Harry Potter section are Romance fics full of angst and drama and it makes me sick. It be slash, het, anything! It's sooofreakin' annoying! What happened to the time when kids wrote stories that actually followed the book? Well there probably are a couple but I haven't found them yet. I also see a lot of fics where Harry absolutely hates Dumbledore and starts his own side. Come on people, I think Harry would just want to get the war over and done with so he could start to live his life. Well yeah, I'm sure their are times when Harry gets wound up and would just want to fight Voldemort and end it, but you have to remember, Harry is what? 16? He is just like any 16 year-old and will have the same things going through his mind as any 16 year-old plus a couple more stress and pressure. To make it more realistic a fic could detail his thoughts that lead him to battle with Voldemort, not just shove him into the stereotypical hero character. Let me elaborate: Instead of shoving Harry into some alternate world where he is trained by the best of the best, returns andhas becomea wizard with godlike powers that even Voldemort and Dumbledore cower before him, and then tah dahh! Your done!NO! When I review stories I am assuming that you are writing to the best of your abilities. I avoid writing flames because I think they don't help the writer in any way. They are hurtful and lower the author'sbelief that they can write a good story(Or they just ignore them). But they can! People just need practice. Anyways, if I hurt your feelings know that I don't mean to. I just want to throw in my two cents. Right now I'm not really expecting any great fics. Really good fics seem to come after a new book is out so I'm waiting until July. If you have any fic recomondations email me! Challenges (Before you read these let me get something straight. The titles I put up for them were put up spur of the moment. So just change the name if you want. These challenges are described in an example summary form for the kind of plot I'm pointing towards. Your story can be different, but it has to have the main key elements in it. I won't keep this up for long.) To Write About a Hero (Action/Adventure/General): In this story the main character is a reporter assigned from his/her station to get an exclusive story on the Boy-Who-Lived. But something is wrong. He's missing, and the wizarding world has fallen into panic and disaray because Voldemort has taken over and all that. He/She searches searches high and low for Harry Potter but gets nowhere (along with everyone else). So now, with only his/her own survival on the young reporter's mind, he/she joins a strange young man with dark hair and brilliant green eyes on a journey for survival through action, adventure, danger and what turns out to be a story of a lifetime. (No romance between Harry and reporter) The Virusstupid name! (Action/Adventure/Suspense): Harry hasn't been feeling well. Hasn't for a couple weeks now. Everyone one says he's just growing but Harry doesn't feel reassured. His suspicions are increased when more and more students come up with the same symptoms. Finally, when practically half the school is in the hospital wing(would it fit that many people?), the Ministry takes action. But their actions don't help much as many of their staff are down with illness as well. Now with much of the wizarding world ill it is discovered that the virus attacks and sucks the magic within magical people. The wizarding world has fallen into a state of panic. Thoughts of the Dark Lord attacking them in their defenseless state pop into many minds but Voldemort hasn't so much as attacked the Ministry in months. But when Harry has fallen into a coma-like state the Dark Lord acts. With He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named within miles of the school a sense of hopelessness falls unto the witches and wizards as Harry Potter falls deeper and deeper into his intense coma. Trying to bring him back, they find out that being surrounded by other sick people makes it worse. The reason? They are unconsiously sucking the magic out of him for their survival.(Ugh, too complicated.)With Harry Potter out of commision and Voldemort at their door how will they survive? It is up to the staff and remaining students of Hogwarts to protect the school until the very end. Will they survive? A Light in the Darkness (Romance/General) Harry has graduated from Hogwarts and is a top notch auror. With The Order of The Pheonix fighting along with him they find it still doesn't seem to be enough as the Dark gains more and more power. Though highly reguarded for his skills and reputation, he also can't help but end up in the medical ward after his many fights with the Dark nowadays. (Habits never die.) His hard battles continue endlessly and he begins to change bitter and silent. War has molded him and he loses the will to fight. But life comes to be a bit brighter as a new medi-witch is stationed to nurse him back to health. Through her he begins see how wonderful and precious life really is and starts to gain hope again. The fate of the wizarding world rests on her shoulders and she doesn't even know it. A Different Kind of Final (Action/AdventureGeneral): "To reasons beyond our understanding the Ministry of Magic has regulated a new exit final for 7th years. You now have the choice to choose between a standard written test or a month long quest in the Forbidden Forest for your finals. Said quest involves searching for certain herbs and items until you are finished and return to the castle. We, the Hogwarts staff, highly advise you take the written test. The quest is given the same amount of credit as the written test but some careers would find it very much a plus when considering hiring you. It is up to you. For more details ask your house prefect." -M. McGonagall, Deputy Headmistress, Head of Griffindor House (This type of fanfic I have seen before but there are very few of them. There were a couple of them written a few years ago but people stopped. I wrote this up here in hopes that some writers will remember this and start a story based on this plot. ) Dungeons and Dragons Choose a different title if you like, I don't particularly like it either. Just can't think up any at the moment. (Action/Adventure/Sci-Fi): (No relation to the game.) Top muggle scientist all over the world are missing. Detectives search for clues but all they have found out is that all the scientists work in the genetic feild. They seem to have vansihed without a trace. But the Wizarding World isn't worried. Why would they be? It has nothing to do with them and they can't risk their world being found out. But when Voldemort attacks months latter with mutilated creatures in tow, few wizards begin to make a connection. Join Harry in his next year at Hogwarts as he faces, well, you'll find out.
