Post-series fix-it-fic. In which Jaime survived, Brienne's heart is guarded, and Tyrion sees fit to bring back a certain drinking game that he introduced to them all back in Winterfell...

Fix-it fic for 8x05 and 8x06. A certain stubborn sellsword won't let the Lannister brothers die without paying him their debts, and eventually their path leads them back towards the woman Jaime never expected to get to see again.

After surviving the collapse of the Red Keep, Jaime Lannister narrowly escapes King's Landing with his life. Months later, he returns to find that Brienne has become Lord Commander of the Kingsguard. When Tyrion appoints Jaime as Master of War, he and Brienne have no choice but to work together, even though Brienne is still heartbroken over Jaime's betrayal.

AU after 8x05 It takes him six months to work up the courage to return to Winterfell. He knows that he is unworthy of her forgiveness but he has to give it a try. However, it wasn't just Brienne that was upset by his departure and there's something else that he left behind...

Tyrion finds Jaime alive, but trapped beneath the ruins of the Red Keep. Basically, I had to cope with the absolute tragedy that was the most recent episode somehow, and this is the result. It's sort of stupid and sort of poorly written, but I don't care. That puts it about on par with this season of the show.

So I nearly broke down when Jaime was crushed and so my grieving brain came up with this! What if... Jaime survived being crushed with his sister? He is found and he and Tyrion leave for the north once more. But Jaime is damaged, physically and mentally with possible brain damage. This will be their ride north and beyond.
