Chapter four of Wished-Aways is going well, I think. Chapter six is making progress, too, but that's neither here nor there. In specific terms, chapter four is legit like... 1546 words - small gap - 90 words - small gap - 273 words - small gap - 197 words - massive gap - 694 words. Why, oh, why do I leave the action scenes until last? They're so intimidating. Literally half the reason for the delay between chapters is just me putting off action scenes. Chapter five even goes for a lovely 3480 words solid before I hit another massive gap. Sigh. Action will never be my forte. 19/1/13: I swear that last entry wasn't that long ago. My holidays are flying by. More importantly, I just have the one gap in chapter four now. Granted, it's massive (lacking 1000 words or thereabouts), but I know what I want to fill it with. Although of course I don't really like what I want to fill it with, which is unfortunate. In any case, my goal is to post it before uni resumes on 25/2. And hopefully also maybe chapter five, since it's also just missing the one big gap, which, again, I know how I want to fill. I am punching myself already for setting this goal. Forgive me when I fail, please. 28/4/13: So clearly that didn't happen. Literally the most work I've done on Wished-Aways since that last note has been writing about 700 words for the climax scene in chapter seven (probably seven, anyway), which is in no way conducive to an update soon, ALTHOUGH I have hopes that the more I fill out later chapters, the more likely I am to finish the whole story. I really hate wasted writing. Anyway, give me some time; uni is crazy at the moment and I've got four weeks of teaching prac coming up very, very soon. I'm pretty set on finishing this story, though, as I said, since I have something like 10 000 words sitting around on my hard drive, so, well... be patient? 22/4/14: I didn't even notice this past year passing to be honest. A lot of things happened, most of them in my head. I might keep writing. I hope so, because I loved it and I miss having passion for things. If I don't update again, I'm so sorry. I POST ANTI-STEREOTYPING PROPAGANDA on my profile, so I MUST not be as judgemental as any other sanctimonious teenager. It's tough, the life of a writer. Some people just can't cut it. I am one of these people. I am... currently nineteen and sort of adrift at the moment. I have been for a few months now. That's about as far as my capacity for self-description extends. Notes Regarding Incomplete/Unpublished Stories The Great Pudding Downpour of '98 This is (correction: was, back in 2010) new and exciting, isn't it? JulyPie's idea. I think it's brilliant so far, but it's slow going. 4000 words in over 8 months isn't particularly impressive. Oh, but how hilarious was that inmate/retiree joke in the summary? Sometimes I am just too much! Happy Camp Currently number two in my priorities, which isn't really that great a position, considering how often I update my first priority. Harry Potter and the Revised Laws of Drink Driving Unfortunately, this was an idea which died before it truly lived. Below is the summary, and for what could have been, please see What Could Have Been in my published stories. Summary: AU. 10-year-old orphan Harry Potter lives with his magical relatives, the Dursleys, having been left there after his parents were murdered by You-Know-Who. But on his 11th birthday, he is informed that his parents actually died in a car crash and he is a Muggle with a place at a prestigious school of technology. The Pensioner of Azkaban Previously titled Harry Potter and the Pensioner of Azkaban. Changed because Harry's hardly gonna be in it, if at all. Then again, it's not like I've planned it out. Anyway, I do find myself occasionally working on it, but Writer's Block is a terrible thing. Savin' Me Let's not kid ourselves - the probability of an update at this point is less than 0.001. I apologise to the subscribers, but I also think you have rather poor taste. The Wished-Aways It's coming along in leaps and bounds. And occasionally it decides to fall over and nap for a while. First priority at present. Help fight wizard illiteracy - Petition for English classes at Hogwarts. |
