Author has written 4 stories for Lord of the Rings, and Ironman. July 18, 2008 - Huh, I've taken up a little writing again. Ironman this time. Not going crazy like LotR but it's kinda fun. September 25, 2003 - reposting WDMC. April 26, 2003 - Found this great page of advice to fanfic authors. 3w.houseofhobbits.com/Fanficrules.html make sure you check out rule number 21. To all my favourite authors - I am still reading and loving your works even if I don't sign in so often. From now I will probably mostly review new or underappreciated stories. March 9, 2003 - One year ago today, my free time was given a massive overhaul when I experienced the Lord of the Rings for the first time. It's frightening how much time I have blown on reading and writing as a result. January 26 - found this ( great piece that humourously reminds people not to bastardize the Professor's work. Less than 3 weeks to go until TTT opens. The Japanese media are slowly grinding into action. January 6 - Just in case anybody reads this, I'll say that I appreciate it when authors note whether their stories include movie spoilers because I still have to wait 6 1/2 weeks before seeing TTT. October 11 - Saw FotR in the theatre first then went out and read the books twice. Have watched the DVD uncountable times. Yikes. I'm an otaku! I currently reside in Japan and I am royally pissed that we have to wait an extra 9 weeks before the Two Towers is released (Feb 22). Pet peeve: Writers who don't get their work beta'd. I'm tired of seeing quite/quiet and loose/lose reversed and incorrect homonyms and bad grammar. The occasional typo is understandable but I worry about the robustness of the English language if people constantly see it butchered like this. The principle of the 'Big Lie' is still as true today as in Goering's time. Basicly, if you repeat a lie/incorrect information/bad spelling often enough, people will start to think it must be true, no matter how ridiculous. Witness the success of diet and exercise infomercials with all their pseudo-scientific hogwash. Yeah, right. You can eat anything you want and never break a sweat but you will become thin if you take this expensive pill or buy our flimsy exerciser/laundry rack/ objet d'art. Whoa. Kind of got my bitch rolling there. |
