Ahahahaha, this account is probably dead. Can't predict the future, but, y'know. Five years since I did, uh, anything besides a yearly update to this 'Update' thing?

Dear Whoever You Are,

Call me Jester. Everyone else does, mostly because I seem to keep ending up friends with people with the same name as me, so what started as a nickname has become what just about everyone calls me. There's a story behind where I got the pseudonym. It's not a terribly interesting story. You probably haven't heard it.

I am of the male persuasion, and I say this because I've been mistaken for a girl more than once (but only online. I don't get mistaken for a girl in real life. Pro tip: Facial hair). I also frequently change the topic on which I'm speaking. I can be contacted via, uh, email. jesterslackey (at) gmail (dot) com, so there. I have IM stuff, but I'm never on it anymore.

I have a Livejournal I share with a great friend, arch-nemesis, project collaborator, and roommate who all happen to be the exact same person, NamelessMoonshine, over at . She does art things and occasionally writes words down, too. We don't update very often, and when we do it more often than not involves threats and insults toward one another. We are working on several projects in a number of fandoms together, but have yet to accomplish any actual progress in any of them because we are both horrible, lazy, horrible people, and tend to enable one another's attempts at avoiding anything regarding fandomness. Yes, I am roommates with a girl who I met over the internet. No, we're not sleeping together. We hate each other a little too much for that. We haven't murdered one another yet.

Yet.

(In all seriousness, meeting Nam is probably one of the high points of my dealings in fandom. Not to say there were many low points, because there weren't. But to meet someone who I can now easily consider my best friend, well, I feel pretty lucky. But I'm still not kidding about the homicide thing. One of us is very likely to be slain by the other.)

For the most part, I'm a slash fan. In my defense, all these fandoms need to stop being so gay. I have around three femslash pairings, but I don't really remember what they are. I've also grown tired of the terms 'yaoi' and 'yuri'. I know they're there, but they annoy me on a deep and personal level. So I say 'slash'. It might be just for the violent connotation of the word. I have no problems with that.

I'm a Library Sciences major, with a passing interest in English and Psych. And I'm gay. Apparently this is enough that people ask me for relationship advice. I am also the worst gay friend ever, because, well, there's a good chance I'm playing a video game while people ask me for advice, and exchanges are probably going to sound like this:

"So he doesn't want me hanging out with him because he thinks I'm-"
"OH MY GOD I AM GETTING RAPED BY GIANT SPIDERS THE FIRE SPELLS THEY DO NOTHING."

(That's not the only reason I'm the worst gay friend ever, but it's the only one we're exploring at the moment.) So unless you are desperate or don't mind getting bad advice because I'm distracted by whatever game I am playing, (I've just discovered my love for certain types of first person shooters in the past year or so, and I will freely admit that I only game on my consoles) you might have more luck elsewhere.

I would also offer insight into my writing process, but if I'm honest, the majority of it seems to be bemoaning the fact that I don't have an icepick buried in my skull slightly more often than usual, screaming profanities slightly more often than usual, and contemplating global genocide (slightly more often than usual). Then I open up a three month old Word document, throw a couple more paragraphs onto it, do a little editing on it, then explore new levels of self-loathing (slightly more often than usual).

Distressingly Yours,
Jester

P.S. I also have a love affair with italics, parentheses, post-scripts, and framing things in the form of letters. I had an issue with always wearing a black kinda-beret style hat all the time. I've moved onto bigger and better hats, now. No, that's not a metaphor.
