My take on what should've happened post 13x12 between Jo and Alex as if they were given the chance to build up their relationship once again.

Although I understand why they made Meredith be the one who Jo talked to involving Paul's death, that it didn't feel real. In my mind this conversation should've been with Alex. So I wrote a little one shot on my take on the conversation.

I was inspired by jolex in 14x03 so I thought I'd write a little one shot that takes place before the elevator scene.

Begins where season 12 left off. A possible scenario for season 13. Involves all the characters dealing with the aftermath of what we saw in the season finale. After getting kidnapped, Meredith and Jo are forced to perform surgery on a patient in order to survive. Meanwhile, at the hospital, the doctors learn about their missing co-workers.

Jo Wilson has fought her whole life to make it on her own... Everyone who was supposed to care about her has always left her... When she moved to Seattle to further her education and make a life for herself and her daughter she found more than she bargained for... Can she have finally found a home and a safe place to land.

After her split from Alex, Jo receives a piece of news that is game-changing for them both. Now standing at a crossroads, she has to make a major life decision. If she ever wants to move on, she'll have to face the demons of her past and summon strength she didn't know she had. That is, if there is even any hope for her and Alex at all. / Two-shot, post 12x24.

Love isn't always enough to fuel a relationship-Jo Wilson has finally realized that. As hard as it is, breaking away from Alex is what she needs to stand on her on.
