![]() Author has written 3 stories for Shugo Chara!. Hi everybody This is mangafanxd here. Lawls okay, this profile is no longer really active, and I do not update my fanfics on here because what is real life also, I have discovered the magical powers of fandom. In slightly less obscure terms, the stories on here will be basically discontinued unless one day I suddenly remember them and decide to write decent endings. I am sorry ;w; /bows But in case anyone still comes here, I still write fanfiction! Just not for anime/manga--I write for kpop now (ha yes I'm one of /those/ people) and I have various social media sites where you can find me. Write me! I'd love to hear from you Just tell me where you found me and I'd love to talk Contact me: Livejournal: @mangafanxd And my old profile ha: Hiya! My name is MangaFanXD and my pen name is Tokyo-chan!! I'm (cough) seventeen. Yes, I am a girl. And I love fanfiction!! Because I've been around here for a year, reading stories and whatnot but finally just joined. Officially. So there are the people that LOVE fanfiction and review and update everyday with a million words. Then there are the people that don't know what fanfiction is. Guess what kind I am? Neither. I was going on my profile...and I JUST noticed how * long it is! I should shorten it...(Alter Ego: I just went through and mercilessly deleted the * on your profile. Thank me. Me: WAAH! There was stuff I wanted to save!! Alter Ego: Too bad.) PUBLICITY ANNOUNCEMENT: If you really like writing, join NaNoWriMo--it's an event where you write a 50,000 word novel in a month. Here's the website (delete the spaces): www . nanowrimo . org ANOTHER ANNOUNCEMENT: I WILL NOT be on FanFiction for the summer vacation. Please PM me for any questions, comments, etc. because I WILL be coming back for the school year. Thanks! So...just so you know, favoriting my stories make me feel warm and fuzzy. Especially if you review. Thanks to all those who favorited my stories and/or reviewed!!! Cookies to all! Ahem: *clears throat* MANGA LOVERS, UNITE! Okay. Just wanted to say that. ABOUT ME: Personality: spazzy at times, cold and indifferent at other times..."tomboyish" but yes, I am a girl Likes: hot soup, chocolate, rain, reviews Dislikes: annoying people, lack of reviews, white chocolate (it's not real chocolate), eggplant, tomato, mushroom, homework, practicing piano, and this list could go on and on and on and on and on (okay, you get the point)... Odd quirks: can name about 20 different types of flowers off the top of her head, knows about 5 words that have r, t, y, and u in them, likes the rain but doesn't like getting wet and cold, doesn't scratch her nose when she lies, knows that Barack Obama's initials are B.O. (well, at least not BS, hehe), and a LOT of other things. A note on manga: (warning: rant ahead) So...I've been reading manga for years now. I mean, literal year years, not just oh-my-god-I-can't-believe-that-manga-volume-came-out-only-today-it-feels-like-it's-been-years kind of years. Yeah, that's right. I win. Occasionally I get so sick of manga that I just throw everything out (figurative) and stop reading. I restrained myself for 1 year once. Then, I get back and get spasms of manic manga obsessions. It's bad. I realize I may sound arrogant here, but really. I've passed through a ton (figurative this time) of phases of reading manga: anything-goes, shoujo, shounen, this-is-burning-my-eyes, mature, why-am-I-even-reading this, etc. So I thought I'd post just what it is that makes a manga a good one, at least to me. There are at least 3 defining characteristics of a good, or even excellent, manga. Nothing really flies past my good mark nowadays, though. In order of how they appear: Title: Yeah, I know a lot of titles of mangas are Japanese and all that, but if it looks interesting, I'll click on it. Otherwise, a lot of mangas I'll just pass on over. Cover Art: Or, at least the art that's shown on the website. Mangaka: I usually won't notice this until after I read (since there are so many mangakas around), but if one manga was good, then I might read another manga by the same mangaka, and give it a bit more consideration than I normally would have. Premise: Sometimes I actually read this before I see the art. The premise is the foundation that the story is build on...the hook, if you will. I'll say it now: I love fantasy and magic-y stuff. I'm a sucker for romance. Art: This is perhaps the most important aspect of a manga, for me...after all, isn't the whole idea of a manga to be good art? I can stomach a bad story with a hard-to-spell Japanese title that looks like they threw a bunch of consonants together and a *y romance and recycled premise IF ONLY the art is good. I've stuck to entire mangas this way, although sometimes it's because I'll get a short burst of manga obsession. I like more realistic manga, by which I mean the anatomy is about correct, eyes are not ridiculously huge, girls are not puny midgets standing next to oh-so-handsome bishies. Also, I enjoy it if it's pretty. Also a sucker for hot manga guys. Yeah, I'm shallow. So what? Plot: This you can only find out once you start reading. But usually, by then, it's worth it. I like plot twists and squee over hot guys just as much as the next person (a girl, hopefully), but if it has a bad plot, it won't really stick in my mind. Unless, of course, it has awesome art. Notable exceptions to this are: Naruto (drags on and on and on...I gave up reading it sometime around chapter 500, I think?), Lovely Complex (same thing, although the art was good). In the end, execution is what seals the deal for me. And like I said, I'm a sucker for romance. I'll read through a manga just to see how the romance ends. Or starts. Sometimes I just feel nostalgic for some bishie and Mary Sue, ridiculously mushy and big-eyed ridiculously ridiculous romance, old-school style. (*Although I say this now, you can probably still catch me reading something shoujo sometimes, alternatively hating and obsessing over it.) As for the list below of mangas, please note: I am not responsible for bad mangas. Please PM me if you think it should be taken off the list (bold are the ones I recommend), and I have not looked at some of the mangas on this list in a long time. Oh yeah, some of the mangas may not be appropriate for readers of a certain age or sensibility. Don't say I didn't warn you. But generally, the ones I recommend aren't too bad, or else they have something good going for them, like good art. Also, some mangas I just put on here to keep track of (ie, I just thought it was interesting and wanted to check it out later but never did), so bear with me. And some of them...it's ridiculous. What was I thinking when I read them? Some stuff that I read and I like that are from the same mangaka I may not post the names of. Just to avoid hassle and repeats. My tastes in manga change; yours will too. Some of these mangas may not suit your or my tastes now, but they're part of my history and have taken me through this world of otaku madness. Some of them I would never read now (ahem, Shugo Chara), but they were good enough at the time. Yeah...I'm not sure exactly what I wanted to say. Some of these are truly excellent; I would recommend checking them out. PM me if you want or have any specific recommendations, although I can't guarantee when I'll respond. Ah yes, PM me about a manga and I can also give you a description of the manga, probably based on the category rankings I've given above. My favorite manga now is... Junketsu Drop (Ohgawd, this manga is freaking adorable. Although I don't understand why I like it, since fulfills all my criteria for "Yaoi Mangas I Hate." ...that is, if I had a checklist for that. *shifty eyes*) My favorite mangas are...(In no particular order.) 1. Shugo Chara! The other mangas I'm currently reading (or have read) are...(BOLD are the ones I recommend/decently good.)(Some are one-shots, by the way.)(In no particular order.) 1.Shugo Chara! (Ah, the throes of first love. This was the manga that first got me involved in the manga/anime world. I'm still attached to it, if only sentimentally.) (Around here the stupid bold button stops working...) 252. Mitsumete Itai RANDOM SCRIBBLE SPACE Candent=white-hot Yoku Wakaru Gendai Mahō Wild-Hope Scanlations Hot Pixel (Block B fanfiction) So this is the part where I talk about my stories? (Alter Ego: Yes. Me: Nah.) Actually, I'm going to talk about a very special guest that's probably going to show up in most of my stories! Introducing... MY ALTER EGO! (Alter Ego: Hello.) So...readers, if you'd like to suggest a name for my alter ego, please PM me and feel free to tell me a name! Well, well, well...NOW I'm going to talk about my stories. The Cat Status: Incomplete, on indefinite hold Chapters: 3 (But I had 6, then I deleted three of them...) Comments: Well, well...I don't know where I want to go with this next. I stopped writing chapters for it around last year this time. (Before the end of school.) So...I'm sort of in the mood to write more, but...like I said, I don't know what I want to do with it. Actually, it started as an English project. Then I moved it to Fanfiction. Dystopia and Utopia: Two Different Worlds Status: Incomplete, currently in the works Chapters: 9 Comments: I like this story. I really do. It's just I procrastinate A LOT. Actually, I pretty much have the ending and general idea planned out...but I'm open to suggestions! The Art of Stealing Donuts Status: Incomplete (AGAIN?! Yes.), currently in the works Chapters: 2 (but I'm working on the next chapter!) Comments: This is my newest story. I wanted to do something funny and original. So far, I think I've succeeded. Maybe. And thanks to Yoru no Mukou, who helped me with inspiration for this story! (We were talking about donuts.) I like it! I want to continue. It's my most successful story so far. "Life can be hard at times. You just don't know which way to go. You take one step forward but, somehow, you end up taking a step back instead. How is it that people can seem so nice but end up being so cruel? How can it be that when you say something nice it ends up being mean? How is it that one simple decision can turn out being so complicated? How is it? I am, time and time again, said to be weak, stubborn, annoying, harassing, cold, chilling, and so many other things. But how is it that when one certain person calls me an 'Ice Queen' that I actually feel hurt? How is it that when I'm alone with him my mouth seems to move on its own? How is it to be in love? I asked Amu how it was to be in love. She had no certain answer. Just that your heart seems to pound and your body ends up moving on its own. I could tell that was how I felt around him. I asked him, once, to get me parfait. But he ends up leaving me standing in the rain while he goes of with my best friend. How is it to know that the person you love is in love with your best friend? How is it to feel anger boiling up in you? How is it to feel jealous? I cried. I haven't felt anything like this before. How is it to feel hurt? How is it? So, How is it, Nagihiko, to know you've broken my heart?" --from amutoluver1 Fanfiction Survey: How many fanfictions do you have submitted? 3. Ah, a pitiful, pitiful 3. I'm thinking of submitting another story but I may want to get that published and I don't want my idea to be taken... (Well said!) Which one has the most reviews? Dystopia and Utopia: Two Different Worlds Least? The Art of Stealing Donuts (But that's only one chapter so far...I think it's actually my most successful one.) Which fanfiction has the most words? Dystopia and Utopia: Two Different Worlds (AGAIN.) Which fanfiction has the most chapters? Dystopia and Utopia: Two Different Worlds (Whew! I get tired typing that all that.) What category are the majority of your fanfictions in? Anime/Manga--Shugo Chara! (all of my stories are xD I'm trying for something else like Kekkaishi... but nah.) What do you like most in reviews: Quality or Quantity? Quality (kinda both but I prefer quality) (Well said again!) Have any of your fanfictions made it into at least one C2? Yeah. The Cat. Surprisingly, actually. Are any of your fanfictions on at least one person's favorites list? Yes. Are any of your fanfictions on at least one person's alert list? Yup. What genre do you most frequently write in? Uh...General? XD I don't know, I just sort of jab a pointy thing at the screen and pick that genre. Do you leave comments before and after a chapter? Yes. I should stop making them too long xD (Same here!) Do you update frequently? Um...in the school year, I procrastinate. (Me too.) And...never in the summer. Do you frequently use original characters? Um...no. I try to save my most creative characters for actual stories I wanna write. ;3 What's your newest story? The Art of Stealing Donuts Are any of your fanfictions based on things that happened to you in real life? Nope. My life's too boring xP But I think most of the scenes are what I want to happen to me in real life. I've always wanted some action in my life. If it means I have to be kidnapped, I'll still be happy. (not really but you know what I mean) Some are based on dreams I had. Manga Fan XD: Me too. Because I'd like to...and I would want something like what happens in my stories sometimes to happen to me. Also, I write some fantasy. Which could never happen XD I absolutely love the band Fahrenheit from Taiwan! (i'm from there too, taiwanese) their songs! If you have any translations, please tell me. The Best Day of My Life by Jesse McCartney Animal I Have Become by Three Days' Grace Listen to Your Heart by Roxette If It's Love by Train Love Drunk by Boys Like Girls Um...can't think of anything more! Bye, all! P.S. I just realized how long this must all be... P.P.S. awesome pic! You know, I wonder why fanfiction didn't break the link...or did they? |
