Just because something is fun doesn't mean it shouldn't be taken seriously and done with care and respect. If your idea of fun is bashing characters and whining that you have eleven billion rights to do whatever you want without anyone telling you that you suck at it, maybe you should get a new idea of fun. And I quote from the rules of this site: Respect the reviewers. Not all reviews will strictly praise the work. If someone rightfully criticizes a portion of the writing, take it as a compliment that the reviewer has opted to spend his/her valuable time to help improve your writing. And I further quote from the review box itself: It is extremely helpful to use this opportunity to comment on an aspect of the story that can be improved. A well rounded critique is often the most rewarding tool for the writer. It is extremely helpful to use this opportunity to comment on an aspect of the story that can be improved. A well rounded critique is often the most rewarding tool for the writer. You are hereby advised that anyone claiming pointing out bad characterization and cliche plots is "abusing the review system" will automatically be awarded one frying pan to the head for extreme stupidity. The review system is not there to stroke your ego and make you feel warm and fluffy. It's there to help you become a better writer. So suck it up and realize you're not the best and you can get better. But not if someone doesn't tell you where you're going wrong. This means that even if it's for fun, you should do your absolute best and work on being better. Because then you'll get the praise you want and it'll be deserved because you wrote something good, not just because you wrote a popular couple. Now that that is over with, hello. I've reviewed without an account before, but I decided it was time to get one. I may not post anything, I haven't really made up my mind. My favorite Power Ranger couple is Kim/Tommy. Given some of the reviews I've given, I'm sure this is a surprise. But you see, I don't like reunion fanfics. Most of them just aren't that good, and really don't take some things into account that they should. So many of them make Kim into some kind of weak wimp who can't exist without Tommy. I like the couple, but I don't like the thought of her being that fragile. Dating Tommy, and being a Ranger, requires a great deal of emotional strength. Kim has that. Taking it away isn't good. There are a few that don't do that to her, and who also treat Tommy properly (I don't like the fact they broke up. I love the fact he loved her enough to let her go if he believed that was what he want. I also believe that he did talk to her about it after the letter, we just didn't get to see it cause Kim's actress wouldn't show it. Leave me to my delusions, please.) Like I said, I don't like the fact they broke up, so I pretend in my mind it didn't happen, which means they don't have to reunite. My favorite fanfics are those that take place during the age of their romance. I've made a C2which is just for Kim/Tommy fics set in the eras of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and anything in Zeo that's before the letter; it's called They Never Broke Up. I don't like AUs where it just didn't happen (it was rather important to part of Tommy's characterization), so only fanfics where it hasn't happened get put into it. That's it for now. |
