The Deputy had a backup plan as she went to her last confrontation with Joseph: keeping John alive as a bargaining chip if things went south. She survives the "Only You" ordeal after walking away and puts the plan to action. But Joseph isn't happy with John's failure to let her atone, and closes Eden's gates to him. The Deputy finds herself as a player in John's game of revenge.
