A description of me? Well, I suppose I tend to gravitate to the Harry Potter fandom more than any other. I rather like a large variety of stories, and I like to think that I have a high standard for the quality of the fanfiction I read though there are those stories that I know are bad yet I read them anyway.

I'm not a huge fan of crossovers, but there are those I can enjoy if they are written well and are parodies. I tend to prefer Adventure based stories, and I really like AU stories and Time Travel fics. I would have to say that my current favorite story would be "Wastelands of Time" by Joe. One of the most creative tales out there, and it actually has likable original characters in the story which is always a nice change. If you haven't read it yet and are thrown off by the summary and first few chapters...I would suggest sticking it out because it all makes sense later on and the story gets amazingly awesome in later chapters.

Though out of all the fanfiction I've ever read, I'd say the story I like most isn't even a story. It is written as a book on magical theory. "Magical Theory by Adalbert Waffling" written by Taure is a wonderful and very different look at magical theory which comes close to mirroring my own views on magic in the Harry Potter world. I don't care for the idea of power being related to size of a magical core nor to I like the idea that a wizard can run out of magic.

I don't really have any pairings I absolutely hate with the exception of Harry/male character. I'm not a fan of slash when it involves Harry or Albus. I refuse to believe Albus Dumbledore is gay. I, prefer, to believe that he was in love with his sister Ariana, and the reason Aberforth wanted to quit Hogwarts and stay at home so Albus could leave was largely due to the fact that he walked in on Albus diddling their sister. I further postulate that Gellert finds out about Albus and Ariana thus we have the fight between Albus, Gellert, and Aberforth which leads to an opportunity for Gellert to kill the competition in a way that cannot be traced back to him. Does that make me weird?

I tend to prefer offbeat pairings. I find very few people write quality fanfiction these days in certain pairings for instance Harry/Ginny is a ship with very few good stories in it, and Harry/Hermione and Harry/Tonks have lost a lot of quality writers over the years as well. Though, in general, it is my belief that the standards of fanfiction writing have dramatically increased over the years thanks to a few exceptional authors. I've been around the community for awhile i.e. since right before GOF came out, but I just recently felt like creating an account mostly because I'm thinking about trying my hand at writing a story...I'm not sure if the writing quality will be that great or if the concept will be that great either, but there is one in the works on my computer right now.

My favorite characters in Harry Potter are without question Harry, Albus, Severus, Luna, Fleur, Hagrid, Fluffy, Hermione (Pre-HBP) and the twins. I tend to prefer characters to be slightly off. I probably enjoy slightly insane Harry a bit too much. I don't mean murderous insanity just a healthy disregarding of logic and reality. Mostly, I enjoy it in stories where Harry and Hermione are the main focus especially if Harry is doing things with magic that go against the rules of magic much to the annoyance of Hermione since she can't do nifty spells like Harry can, and it messes with her beloved rules.

Fanfiction Peeves: Soul bond, rape of Harry's girlfriend, Dumbledore bashing, Mary Sue, muggles, Slash and by Slash I mean Harry isn't Slash and he most certainly doesn't walk around with a guitar and a cool hat, an unloony Luna, Ron being a master of strategy because he is good at chess (last time I checked Generals aren't world chess champions), random and pointless trips around the globe, vampires that are super powerful, and killing off characters like Snape in lame ways...it takes more than a snake to kill a competent wizard. Also, just so we are all clear if you are using OWL scores from canon then Hermione is not some genius...she wouldn't even qualify as being as smart as James, Sirius, etc. much less being as smart as Snape, and don't even attempt to compare any of the people in canon on the same level as Tom or Albus unless it is Harry. In fact, unless I'm remembering things wrong didn't Percy have higher OWL scores than her?
