Everything for once is going right for the Mikealson family. They've solved all their problems and yet Elijah can't ingore the fact that something is still bothering Niklaus. Takes place around the beginning of the season 4. Oneshot

Can vampires even father children? Most would say no. Except for Elijah Mikaelson, who just had a three-(and a half)-year-old little girl thrown into his life. But vampire-human hybrids are (as far as they know) non-existent so there's no telling what she can and can't do. But the four remaining Mikaelson children are wiling to risk it. However, their father is not.

Niklaus's moments of lucidity were few and far between and Elijah couldn't help but wonder, as he had wondered for the greater part of the last forty odd years, how much any one mind could reasonably be expected to take before it snapped completely. (In the 11th century Klaus suffered under the hunter's curse for 52 years, 4 months and 9 days. This is one of those days.)

What begins as a romantic gesture to Klaus, soon puts Caroline in a difficult position. But after an interesting encounter with Rebekah who unlike Elijah tells her what's really going on in New Orleans, will she turn right back around and return to Mystic Falls or will she stay and see what there is between Klaus and her?

Elijah has had enough, a notion that sends Klaus reeling...
