When he is rejected because of the shrapnel in his shoulder taints his blood, he decides to just make the best of the night.

There were four facts about soulmates that everyone knew. One: every living soul had a soulmate somewhere in the world. Two: in order to identify one's soulmate, one had to make skin-to-skin contact with that person. Three: that soulmates, once they find each other, generally could not bear to be separated. And four: most people never found their soulmates.

John Watson had always assumed that he would never play a major role in Moriarty's game. He is taken by surprise when Moriarty makes a shocking demand: one month with John Watson in exchange for Britain's tactical positions and plans in Afghanistan. John has now become a pawn to be used as both Moriarty and Mycroft please. But what everyone forgets is that a pawn has power, too.

The first time Jim Moriarty broke into 221B, he hadn't been expecting much, and he definitely didn't expect it to become a habit.

Moriarty could be considered a vesicant being, but he's often taken for an aphrodisiac instead. It is not his choice whether the fools fall prey or not, but his web is ever-ready all the same. Basically, it's a love triangle brought on by Moriarty.
