![]() Author has written 1 story for RWBY. Tusunem arákinei! Who I am and What I'm about First and foremost, I'm a conworlder. I am by no means a professional novelist. It is most likely that I will not write anything bestseller quality on this site, but I'll give it my best shot. I love languages, and I love to explore the environments they happen to inhabit. My favorite author and teacher is Mark Rosenfelder, a very talented and knowledgeable person. His books helped me through a lot of the complicated stuff, and they could help you pick up the craft quickly and easily (relatively speaking, anyway). If you want to get a good idea of who Mark is and what he does, check out his website: zompist.com My primary mission on this site is to bring awe and realism into writing what I will call chronicles. I call my narratives chronicles because each world they take place in inevitably develops their own canon in addition, but not contradictory, to the original canon. I am very fond of developing other peoples' worlds further than they were originally, and I am very likely to create supplementary materials related to each one, such as poems, biographies, novels within novels, and much more. The reason I do this is to make my work stand out among many other narratives that either fail to stay consistent, to build depth, to give proper time and credit to their own world, or to explore their world in an interesting way. I'm going to warn you: my style of writing may not be to your taste. While I might like to spend my time on frivolous details like history, geography, social customs, and lots and lots of APPENDICES, you might not like to do anything more than oggle the protagonists as they do something epic, like fight a dragon one-on-one. Think of this as a disclaimer. I repeat: Got it? Good. How This is Going to Operate As far as I know, no one has ever attempted to do something this extreme. I mean, who really wants to put in the time to write a fanfiction on par with The Lord of the Rings? Well, I guess that would be me. Since this project is going to be such a large undertaking, I'm willing to take as much help as I can get. I'll take help from novelists, I'll take help from conworlders, I'll take help from fans of the works I write about, I'll take help from a casual observer that just stumbled upon one of my narratives, I'll take help from pretty much anyone. The very first thing I'll always want to do is stay true to the canon of what I’m writing about. I'll never stray from the canon unless I have a good reason to do so. Suggestions and corrections related to the original canon are most certainly welcome, but please make sure that what you're going to say is both necessary and relevant. I don't want my reviews and PMs to be flooded with repetitive and unhelpful comments. I do want to improve my writing, and I'm sure you do, too. I'm also a novice writer, so I'll also take suggestions on pacing, character development, scene writing, whatever. Again, please don't flood my reviews and PMs with repetitive and unhelpful comments (I will take compliments on my work, though. Who doesn’t want a little praise?). If you have a suggestion on the plot, characters, or worldbuilding, or even if you just have an idea of what I should write next, send it my way. As long as the suggestion is sound, and provided that it's interesting enough, I will take it seriously. Just please don't waste anyone's time with a half-baked idea; a romantic pairing with so-and-so and so-and-so has already been done about a thousand times, and I want absolutely nothing to do with stuff like that. All this being said, I will take this project seriously. Since this is basically going to be a community endeavor, as I couldn't possibly do this on my own without substantial help, please leave reviews and follow my stuff: it lets me know that I'm not alone in this. On Another Note . . . This is a mutually beneficial relationship: help me out and I'll help you out. If you need me to do something for you, let me know. Just make sure it's something serious that you want legitimate help with. I can't promise that I'll be able to help everyone, but I can promise that people who take their work seriously will at least get a looking-over before I pass judgement. Since I don't really look at new stories that pop up on the main feed, I won't leave any unsolicited reviews unless I already know the author. "I repeat: Team LEAF is now on hiatus until further notice. "Until then, I suggest checking out my fictionpress while I'm gone from here a few months. It won't have anything there for quite a while, but I guarantee that the stuff that ends up there will be interesting." The Meta "Right now I'm working on a couple of projects over on fictionpress. My profile there has the same name and avatar as the one here, so it should be easy to find." |
