Why do I write?

The main reason, I think, is because I'm lazy.

Let me explain what I mean - it's inside work, there's no heavy lifting, and I can drop everything if I have to and have a break when I need it.

I thought I wanted to be a stay at home mum and house wife. I honestly did - and I understand that it is the New Zealand thing to do. But I've found it's not everything I thought it would be.

It's not that I don't like my kids, I do, but I honestly thought that being a stay at home mum would be a lot easier.

However it turns out I can't stay at home all day watching T.V. soap operas and eating chocolates. In the real world I have to get toothbrushes out of toilets, clean constantly. Let's not mention the harsh reality of both being sick myself and the kids being sick at the same time, a special type of torture that is.

The time that my little darlings are at school and kindergarten I relish, and I don't want to spend cleaning my run down old house and gardening.

In short being a housewife is hard work terrible hours with little appreciation, and I don't want to do it. So I googled 'stay at home jobs for mothers', and writing was one of the pj friendly options.

Barricading myself in the spare room and escaping into another world (yes when the kids are at school seems like a better idea all the time, maybe I'll even be able to have someone come in once a week and clean the toilets for me.

Well maybe not, but dreams are free aren't they?
