Hello. So my name is RinnePotter726. I enjoy reading fanfiction and I've been doing so as a guest for quite some time. I finally decided to write my own. Since I'd like to be an author and I'm too lazy to get a writing degree this late in my college career, I figured I'd practice my skills with this. I feel like fanfiction can be amazing when it's done properly and I want to try to do that.

I'm tossing around a few ideas that I have in mind. In general, I'm going to try to produce quality stories with good grammar. Most of my stories will likely be written pretty far ahead before I start posting them. I do think input is a good thing, but I also want to let my story develop without dozens of different suggestions coming at me. I already have enough ideas bouncing around in my head to deal with thank you very much. ;)

Now, I think I'll give you some general information about my personal tenets for writing fanfiction. I'll update this as the list increases.

#1: Bashing: There is no quicker way to turn me off of a fanfiction than including bashing. Well, maybe attrocious grammar. But anyways, I dislike bashing immensely. It serves no acctual purpose besides having certain characters to be the verbal and emotional punching bags of the main character and to advance the authors own twisted view of the narrative. I will never include bashing in my stories, period. There will be some characters who are jerks or are viewed negatively by the main character, but I won't be changing their personalities to make them seem foolish or evil if that is not their nature.

#2: Grammar: Grammar is important. It makes the story reabable. With all the translation and grammar correction software out there-usually free-there is no excuse for having terrible grammar. Its fine to have mistakes but in general you should try to put effort into the story.

#3: Check your ego: I see a great number of writers who fill the narrative with sarcastic comments and break the fourth wall every few seconds by suddenly switching to first person in the voice of the author. It's terrible. This is nothing but an attempt by the author to be funny and cool and-to borrow a wrestling term-get themselves over. Its all about their ego and need to seem cool. This completely ruins a narrative for me and makes a story impossible to read. It also conveys a certain lazy tone to the readers that makes it seem like you completely don't care. I will never use this and-though it is my story and I will write it how I want-I will try to make the story enjoyable for the readers and not a shrine to myself and my genius. Not saying I don't have an ego (trust me, I have a huge ego). I just check mine at the door.

#4: Be an expert: If you want to be a writer of fanfiction, its best to be an expert on it. For example, Naruto. I've had multiple people I know comment on my ability to memorize just about every character from Naruto (Part I and Shippuden). Whether its the mechanics of a jutsu or the geogrophy, I consider myself an expert on the world of Naruto so I'm better equipped to handle writing about it. For example, I've even created a master timeline based on the . . . somewhat confusing timeline Kishimoto has created. This expertise also lets you incorporate certain elements into the story within the mechanics (how chakra and such work) of the Naruto Universe. And that brings me to the next tenent.

#5: Respect the mechanics of the fandom you're writing in: If you're going to be writing within a certain series, respect the mechanics of it. For example, in Harry Potter Werewolves can't transform except on the full moon. They also can't pass on the disease when human and don't gain any physical advantages from it. It's important to adapt the mechanics of a characters abilities when including them in another fandom. For example if one includes a zanpakuto from Bleach in a Naruto story, have it be related to something within the Naruto fandom. Like Senbonzakura being a result of the Magnet Style bloodline.

#6: OC's are the icing, not the cake: Don't get me wrong, I like icing. But I don't eat it without cake, whereas I could eat a cake, maybe with some kind of filling, without icing. The same goes for OC's for me. Original Characters can be vibrant, interesting, and might really enhance a story, especially in original arcs. But they shouldn't be the main character. Usually they end up way overpowered, and they take away from the actual main character. Original Characters are best used as enhancement to the stories.

Least Favorite Naruto Pairings:

#1 Sasuke/Sakura: Where to begin. Firstly, I don't like how Sakura is portrayed. I can't buy that a twelve-year-old girl can be completely in love with someone when she isn't halfway through puberty and has only had prolonged contact with that person for less than a year. On top of that, the person tries to kill one of your friends and you still love them completely? Not to mention that the entirety of your contact afterward measures less than an hour and yet that girl still loves that boy enough to be "unable to bear seeing him that way." No, it is not realistic in any sense, even for anime. This makes no mention of how he treats her in Part II.

Overall I feel like Kishimoto really dropped the ball with this pairing. I'm not one to overly criticize him and call him an idiot. I love Naruto too much for that. It doesn't mean I can't critique his weaknesses. Speaking of which . . .

#2 Naruto/Hinata: The start of my issues with this pairing is similar to Sakura. Hinata certainly admired Naruto, but they had even less contact than Sasuke and Sakura. Yes, there were some impactful moments, but they were too young to be really romantic. Not to mention Naruto doesn't even know of her feelings until Pein attacked the Leaf. I think the worst part for me is the absolute lack of any connection or build between the two until the last arc. They had to do a complete movie just to make it semi-reasonable.

Overall I am unimpressed and feel like this could have done much better. As it is every time I think about it I come to like this pairing less and less until now I almost don't like Hinata. But that part's my problem, not the characters.

My Feelings Regarding Boruto:

I figured I might as well make my feelings on the entire Epilogue and the New Era known. I haven't watched or read it and I don't have any intention to as of now. As I said I'm not one for overly criticizing Kishimoto. Nevertheless Boruto came off as an attempt to get more out of the series money wise. Not to mention I'm not a fan of the Naruto/Hinata pairing as it came about so I'm naturally disinclined to have anything to do with the epilogue. That means that it's very unlikely I'll do anything in regards to characters revealed in it.

Fanfiction Tropes I Dislike In Harry Potter:

Manipulative Dumbledore: This trope annoys me as it stems from a complete lack of understanding of Dumbledore's character. It's not that Dumbledore isn't slightly manipulative in the series–he is–but the motivations and extent are misconstrued. One of the chief complaints is that he wants Harry to be a "sacrifice" and tries to make him weak and malleable. My answer to this idea is that it misunderstands the situation. Dumbledore did intend for Harry to die and thought it necessary, yes. But he ALSO believed he would be able to return to life. He didn't know this was possible for certain so he kept his mouth shut about it so as not to give false hope.

The rest of his decisions–such as withholding information–are explainable by the fact that he is HUMAN. He does it with the best of intentions as he is so used to being looked to for making decisions. He honestly BELIEVES that it is in Harry's best interest to have a normal childhood, and it is his devotion to this that causes him to withhold information. Dumbledore also has issues with trust. This is rather understandable. In his youth his best friend–a man he loved–killed his sister. Or worse, Dumbledore himself had done it accidentally. Either way it would have made it difficult to allow people in from then on.

Then there's his penchant for forgiveness to those who seem unworthy. This is also explainable by the fact that Dumbledore is a very complex, very damaged individual. Early in his life he planned to do unspeakable things with Grindlewald and possibly killed his sister. Either outcome would be hard for the average person to overcome. Part of the reason he hesitated to confront Grindlewald was because of an immense internal sense of guilt. This guilt haunts him and is the source of his forgiving nature. He desperately needs to believe that people deserve second chances and can earn forgiveness because it is the only way he can possibly overcome the mistakes he made. He has to believe people can change after making horrible decisions and become good people, because he is desperate to view himself as having changed and become a good person. Now a reader might look at him and go "But he has". Dumbledore is so consumed by his guilt that he can never believe he is a good person despite the fact he has in fact become a good person and devoted the rest of his life to correcting the kind of thoughts he entertained in his youth.

Weasley Bashing, Especially Molly, Ron, and Ginny: This is usually done by making them manipulative, wanting to secretly use Harry for his fortune, etc etc. Firstly, this is absolutely ludicrous. Molly is bullish and overprotective, yes, but not a manipulative person. Simply overbearing. The idea that she has some secret plot to arrange marriages for her children is ridiculous. Then there's Ron. This is more difficult as he is clearly a flawed person. However, that's because he was a teenager. If people were honest with themselves, they would admit that a majority of us are like Ron at his age, He is prone to jealousy and has issues with inferiority, but deep down he is a good person. He's just a teenager. Finally Ginny. She doesn't have some grand scheme to get with Harry, or feel entitled to it. Is she possibly jealous of other girls he dates? Yes. But she clearly tried to move past her crush and get it out of the way. Of course, I still am not a big fan of this pairing. I just don't like her being bashed.

Hermione Gets the Black Library: Okay, this may seem odd. But it really ticks me off when Sirius just ups and gives Hermione the Black Library in his will. Now, Sirius may indeed not like his family and their traditions a lot. But A, that library would have been an accumulation of knowledge gathered by them over centuries. It would be guarded jealously in order to keep the secret magics they may know. As much as he may dislike his family, I have a hard time believing he would simply wipe that out. And B, in giving it to her he deprives Harry of something that–as his heir–should be his, and also should help him in dealing with Voldemort. And this is the major reason I don't think he would give Hermione the library. The idea that he wouldn't give Harry the most advantages he could in his fight is hard for me to believe. Now, possibly giving her lifetime access, I could understand that.

- Hermione Bashing: This I just don't get. I really don't. Usually, she is bashed by making her completely devoted to authority, and completely arrogant about how much she knows. The first is utterly ludicrous, the idea that she is completely goody-two-shoes and doesn't break any rules. Does she respect authority, absolutely, but she's not above breaking rules. Exhibit A, the polyjuice potion. Exhibit B, she stole Buckbeak. Exhibit C, she blackmailed Rita Skeeter. Exhibit D, she helped run the DA. The second part about being a know-it-all, while she does show her intellect, she isn't arrogant about it and doesn't act as if she knows everything. She likes to show how much she knows, but not beyond reason.

- Harry is horrifically beaten by the Dursley's: Okay, let's get this straight. The Dursley's verbally and emotionally abused him plenty, but they did not horrifically beat him to near death over and over like some people like to portray. People do this in a naive attempt to make him more tragic by having an even more traumatic past. But it is pointless. It doesn't really add anything to his character accept something for people to pity him for. His past was plenty traumatic without adding anything to it. Emotional and verbal abuse is sometimes just as if not more damaging than physical abuse. This is also many times used as an excuse to prove how manipulative Dumbledore by having Dumbledore hush up the fact he was being abused, and using this to try and mold him. In reality his ignorance of Harry's home circumstances stems from his general belief in the best in people and his desire to give Harry a normal childhood.

Fanfiction Tropes I Dislike in Naruto:

- Evil Hiruzen: This usually comes along with with cliche Civilian/Sasuke/Sakura/Konoha bashing, and the ever thrilling (note heavy sarcasm) Dark and/or Evil Naruto. That thing where he becomes a completely unsympathetic ass-clown that has psychotic tendencies and is almost always god-like as far as power. I hate Evil Hiruzen because it takes one of the most sincere, kind, and sympathetic characters in the series and craps all over him. Either he blames Naruto for his wife's death, views him as nothing but a weapon, actively encourages people to beat him, etc, etc, blah blah blah. The fact is none of this has any sort of basis in reality or cannon, and it is usually just a device to get to Dark/Evil Naruto, which is another one I will cover later on.

- Civilian Councils: . . . In the words of Samuel L. Motherf&$#ing Jackson; what the *@#k is this shit about? Where to start. Possibly that the Hidden Leaf is a military dictatorship. Maybe that there is no evidence of them in cannon? Ah, yes, I know. They exist solely as a device to justify Naruto having a harsher childhood than he really did. Things like beatings from mobs, letting said mobs off, somehow blocking the leader of a military dictatorships ability to help him, etc. This is one of the main reasons I dislike it, as they are characters that only exist to look bad. This is compounded by the fact Sakura's mother is often erroneously included as a member, and for some reason has pink hair . . . and isn't named Mebuki. So basically she's replaced by an OC. Anyways, yes, I am not fond of Civilian Councils.

- Sakura Bashing: I find Sakura bashing comes from a very immature and shallow understanding of not only the overall story, but of her character. People often exagerate certain qualities of hers, such as hitting Naruto on occasion. She doesn't really do it unless he does something that A) could cause political issues, B) acts perverted, or C) asks her out at an inappropriate time. They also make it seem like she only ever puts him down while saying he's inferior to Sasuke. This is (partially) true prior to the second stage of the exams, but there after she begins to judge them much more evenly, and by part II she clearly has a higher opinion of Naruto. The people that bash her also tend to forget that during the initial series, she was twelve. Anyone who wants to act like a twelve-year-old is completely mature, is either delusional or being purposefully stupid. Sakura acts exactly like a twelve year old, and then matures over the course of the series as she gets older . . . almost like actual children do. Gee, it's almost like she's being portrayed as a complete character with flaws and who acts like a real person would . . . go figure.

- Dark/Evil Naruto: Now, I read and am beginning to write fanfiction, so I can understand shifting a characters personality. But making them into something completely and utterly opposite of what they really are at their core is something I dislike. Dark/Evil Naruto is usually sociopathic, sometimes psychotic, lacks any empathy, has zero emotions accept for annoyance and anger, and is held up as some ultimate person who can never be beaten, is somehow smarter than anyone, and doesn't really care about anyone. In other words he is a complete douche-bag presented as somehow cool. He basically is just a vehicle for the author to enact their own fantasies of how they think they would act in the story if they were in it. It's a form of mental masturbation that doesn't do anything to transform the series or add something to it in any meaningful way.

- Demon/Half-Demon Naruto: Okay, I can slightly understand where this came from. A little backstory for those who don't know. Kishimoto didn't always plan to take Naruto in the direction that he did. It was originally going to be much more mystical and similar to Inuyasha. He was either going to be the son of the Nine-Tails, or the Nine-Tails itself. Hence, how come in the first volume he is referred to as the human form of the fox. Heck, the Akatsuki were supposed to be monsters. That being said, he isn't either of those. Furthermore the Tailed Beasts have long been established as not being demons (basically since the beginning of Part II) and so there is no reason for this trope. Also, their chakra is just chakra, not Youki. This is a trope that I am not as vehement about, but I dislike what comes with it. It usually is done to make Naruto immortal, and he quite often gets foxy bits. I never liked the whole immortal thing. It kind of makes the story dull to me and I find that most times it is found in very uncreative stories that (ironically) are trying to be super creative.

My Ranking of the Hokage:

So I figured this would be something fun to do. I was inspired recently to make this because I came to the realization that a lot of people when ranking them only go off of what they've seen in the series. I think that's the wrong approach. In ranking them power wise I'm going to rank them with a few factors in mind. Firstly, I will not be factoring in Minato being the jinchuriki of Yin Kurama. He never achieved that while actually alive, and the rankings will be based off what I believe each Hokage would be in their prime while still alive. In the case of Kakashi I won't be judging him based off having his dual Mangekyo Sharingan, because he only had that due to Obito inhabiting his body for a time. Finally, in some cases I'm going to use a lot of informed speculation and extrapolation to measure a Hokage's prime. In two particular cases this will be important. So without further ado, here is my ranking of the Hokage from weakest to strongest.

#7: Kakashi Hatake: Remember, we're not including the dual Mangekyo here. Aside from that, Kakashi is undoubtedly a genius shinobi. But by his own admission he has only average chakra reserves. He's copied over a thousand jutsu in his time, but the problem is he has to use them strategically because of the handicap of his reserves. When you include his use of Kamui prior to having Obito's eye removed, he does become a degree more powerful by being able to warp away objects. The problem is he's limited by his physical ability and there are at least three Hokage on this list I don't think he could catch with it. That aside he is a brilliant tactician and problem solver, being able to overcome the loss of the sharingan and innovate a new way to still utilize his greatest original technique. But the thing that separates him from number six is not a combat ability.

#6: Tsunade: As a member of the Legendary Sannin, Tsunade is a juggernaut. Her immense physical strength sets her apart on a battle-field as she can reshape it with her bare hands. She can smash through nearly any obstacle in her way. But her most impressive skill is her healing. By releasing her Strength of a Hundred Seal she can literally heal thousands of people at once with the help of her summons. On top of that her Creation Rebirth allows her to basically become immortal for a time. But there are massive drawbacks. It is a double-edged sword, and if she's not using it, her healing skills aren't as great as her grandfather. Not to mention it drastically reduces her life span and prematurely ages her. But to me her biggest weakness is her speed. She is outclassed in that category by every other Hokage on this list, including Kakashi. I would not be shocked if he would be able to beat her in a fight, but her healing ability puts her above him on this list.

#5 Minato Namikaze: I have a feeling most people will find this controversially low. But I have my reasons for it, as I'll explain. First and foremost he doesn't have Kurama. That means any jinchuriki abilities are being excluded. That being said Minato is undoubtedly probably the fastest person on this list not named Naruto (and lets face it, he has a bit of an unfair advantage). On top of that he is a brilliant shinobi, who has innovated and mastered the Flying Thunder God beyond the level of even it's creator, along with creating the original jutsu the Rasengan, as well as a highly skilled practitioner of Sealing Jutsu. As if that wasn't enough, he also has access to Sage Mode and is a perfect sage. This is a way that he can somewhat match some of the physical powerhouses on this list. Now with all that being said, there's a reason he's so low. To put it simply, outside of the Flying Thunder God and Rasengan he is fairly one dimensional. He purposefully crafted a fighting style that is quick and uses little or no hand seals. While this is enough to overwhelm most opponents and even powerful ninja, against anyone with a good sensing ability and relatively high speed or a defensive or healing power he is limited. By his own admission he doesn't use Sage Mode because it ill-fits his style and so he can't maintain it long. To me though I think the biggest detriment is that, aside from Kakashi, Minato almost certainly has the lowest level of chakra reserves. Four of the Hokage were either Senju, or Uzumaki, or a combination thereof. Or in Hiruzen's case, having naturally large reserves.

#4 Tobirama Senju: I have Tobirama placed here despite the fact that Minato mastered his jutsu the Flying Thunder God better than Tobirama himself. That being said, I don't believe that the difference in their relative skills with it is great enough to negate some of the advantages Tobirama has over Minato. Firstly, he probably has much more physical strength and stamina than Minato, being a Senju and all. Merely unleashing his chakra causes the surrounding area to shake. Then you also have to take into consideration that despite the fact there are people who have mastered his most iconic jutsu' to a greater degree than himself (Shadow Clone, Flying Thunder God, Impure World Reincarnation), he's the only one to have mastered all three. On top of that you have to assume that upon seeing the innovations, he most likely could replicate them. That aside, he's also a master of all five basic elements, including near godly control of Water Jutsu, and he is probably the best sensor of all the Hokage, including Naruto, as he can feel what clan a person is from and what their chakra nature is. When you combine all these factors I think he has to be above Minato. Any advantage Minato has in skill with the Flying Thunder God can be countered by Tobirama. For example, he could use water jutsu to clear the field of Minato's markers, and probably sense and remove any marker placed on himself. Not to mention his superior sensing would allow him to better avoid Minato's attacks. But for me the real deciding factor is the Impure World Reincarnation, as he could just use it to set off an nearly endless chain of explosions to harass Minato with while he just sits back and plans his counter, and any attempt to teleport the explosion away could be countered.

#3: Hiruzen Sarutobi: I just realized this, but I have the Third Hokage at three. Fitting, although unintentional. But down to the point. I had to do the most speculation on this one, but I feel confident in it. I think Hiruzen is vastly underrated by most because they only saw him fight as an broken down old man. But you have to place it into context. Even in his advanced age he was considered the strongest Kage, and his base stats are comparable to Kakashi and the Sannin (though slightly below the Sannin physically). He was able to fight toe-to-toe with Orochimaru even then, and if Orochimaru didn't know Impure World Reincarnation, that fight would have likely gone the other way. So by taking the base stats we get in Part 1 I think we can easily assume that in his prime he would have been off the charts as far as physical stats, probably only behind Naruto and Hashirama in physical strength and stamina. There's one last intangible I'd like to mention before getting into his actual skill set, and that's the fact he was given the moniker "God of Shinobi" in a time when many still would have been able to remember Hashirama's prime. That says a lot about his skills in his prime. Finally, his skill. He was a master in all three branches of the shinobi arts, and even highly knowledgeable in the use of sealing and barriers. When you think about it his sheer jutsu knowledge has to be about equal to Kakashi, as he is said to have mastered or have advanced knowledge of every jutsu that has ever existed in the Hidden Leaf, and he can use all five chakra natures at an equal level. His ability to dissect an opponents technique is also ridiculous, he can basically figure out what someone is doing just by looking at the jutsu. The only way it could be better is if he had the sharingan, and you have to believe he probably can come up with a counter for any jutsu the other Hokage could possibly use against him (barring maybe Naruto). He also has access to Enma, who can last against Orochimaru's Kusanagi. If he were to channel chakra nature through Enma, he could probably make his giant bo staff even stronger. So in summary he basically has the reserves of someone like Tobirama or Hashirama, physical strength and stamina just a few steps lower than Hashirama, the sheer jutsu knowledge of Kakashi, and the tactical ability and on the fly strategy of Shikamaru and Naruto. That is a truly godly combination, if you'll pardon the pun. That's why I have him at number three, because once you break it down his likely prime is probably insane.

#2 Hashirama Senju: I don't think I have to go into too much detail on this one. He has the Wood Style of his ancestor Asura, unparalleled strength and stamina, Sage Mode, seal-less medical jutsu, massive chakra reserves, and so on and so on. He's the second God of Shinobi for a reason, and he's able to go toe-to-toe with Reincarnated Madara with the Rinnegan.

#1: Naruto Uzumaki: I think he's hands down the strongest. He's just got so many ridiculously powerful modes that he can go into, and they allow him strength and speed that are unmatched by anyone else on this list. He has a wide range of Jutsu that are almost all extremely destructive and easily S-Rank, and he has access to several advanced chakra natures. Not to mention an arm made up of Hashirama's cells, he has to be considered the strongest.

And that's my list of the Hokage's ranked from weakest to strongest.
