I am the boy who never finished high school, because I got called a fag everyday.

I am the person ashamed to tell my own friends I'm a lesbian, because they constantly make fun of them.

I am the boy tied to a fence, beaten to a bloody pulp and left to die because two straight men wanted to "teach me a lesson".

I am the girl kicked out of her home because I confided in my mother that I am a lesbian.

I am the prostitute working the streets because nobody will hire a transsexual woman.

I am the sister who holds her gay brother tight through the painful, tear-filled nights.

We are the parents who buried our daughter way before her time.

I am the man who died alone in the hospital because they would not let my partner of twenty seven years into the room.

I am the foster child who wakes up with nightmares of being taken away from the two fathers that are the only loving family I’ve ever had. I wish they could adopt me.

I am one of the lucky ones, I guess. I survived the attack that left me in a coma for three weeks, and in another year I will probably be able to walk again.

I am not one of the lucky ones. I killed myself just weeks before graduating high school. It was simply too much to bear.

I am the girl who was threatened by her own mother for supporting gays. Little does she know, I am bisexual myself.

We are the couple who had the realtor hang up on us when we told her we wanted to rent a one-bedroom for two men.

I am the person who never knows which bathroom I should use if I want to avoid getting management called on me.

I am the mother who is not allowed to even visit the children I bore, nursed, and raised. The court says I am an unfit mother because I now live with another woman.

I am the domestic violence survivor who found the support system grow suddenly cold and distant when they found out my abusive partner is also a woman.

I am the domestic violence survivor who has no support system to turn to because I am male.

I am the father who has never hugged his son because I grew up afraid to show affection to other men.

I am the home economics teacher who always wanted to teach gym until someone told me that only lesbians do that.

I am the man who died when the paramedics stopped treating me as soon as they realized I was a transsexual.

I am the person who always feels guilty because I feel I could be a better person if I didn’t always have to deal with society hating me.

I am the man who stopped attending church, not because I don’t believe, but because they have closed the doors to my kind.

I am the kid you never heard about on the news, the one who was smashed in the head with a shovel until he couldn’t move, for hitting on another guy.

I am the girl who will never feel fully loved, because I must hide from my family the biggest side of myself.

I am the person who lives in constant fear of discovery, that must constantly cover their tracks, to avoid attack from those who are supposed to love me.

I am the person who must hide what the world needs most, love.

The culture of homophobia in the United States has been bred in churches and classrooms and homes, and reinforced in the school-yard and shopping malls and television sit-coms. For too long this has been allowed to continue, and I make a promise right now, never again will I turn a blind eye or deaf ear, and never again will I hide who I am. Humanity is not an exclusive club. Do not let ignorance and fear convince you otherwise.

I hereby state that I will never again fall slave to the prejudice that has infiltrated our society, and never again will I allow myself, nor anyone around me, to be victimized by it. I hold myself above those who discriminate, and by doing so, I am setting an example for those who have not yet seen the cruelty of their actions.

I am the person who made the world a better place.

Note: I am currently the president at my school's GSA (Gay Straight Alliance) and have many friends who identify as a homosexual, bisexual, pansexual, etc. Any homophobia regarding me or is sent towards me will not be tolerated. I will block you.

I don't care if you're gay or straight, everybody needs love.
I don't care if you're diseased with an incurable sickness, everybody deserves a chance.
I don't care if you're ugly or pretty, everybody has flaws.
I don't care if you're black or white, everybody has the same capabilities.
I don't care if you're weird, everybody needs to change.
I don't care if you're rich or poor, everybody needs warmth.
I don't care if you're different, everybody is.

I know I'm going to get a lot of hate for this, but I'm going to say it anyway. I am 100% pro-choice because I feel it is wrong to dictate what someone can and can't do with their body. If you believe that abortion is killing a child (I don't), then that's fine. That's your opinion. If you're against abortion because of your religion, again, that's fine. That's your opinion. But ultimately, if a woman gets an abortion, the majority of the time it's not going to affect you or your life. Don't put people down for deciding to go this route. Abortion was made legal for a reason. Instead of spreading hate on this topic, just politely say your opinion and then support the woman in your life if they're going through this. They probably need it. And if you can't do that, just don't say anything. It is the woman's body, not yours. Let them make the hard decision.

This is a message to everyone who comes across my profile: be respectful to everyone you come across. Be nice. Don't be an ass, even if someone is being one to you. There's too much hate in the world and it needs to stop. Be tolerant of everyone, no matter their race, gender, sexual preference, or religion. Treat everyone like you would want to be treated. This cycle of hatred and negativity needs to stop. You don't have to love everyone. Just treat people with the basic respect and dignity they deserve. We're all humans, it's time we start treating each other with a little humanity.

Religion: Tricky topic. I was a Christian when I was a kid, then I turned Atheist, then I hated having a label and just said I was anti-religion, but now I'm going through a hard time in my life so I'm thinking of finding religion again, probably Buddhism.
