The death of a probationary agent in the winter of 2015 links back to a case Ziva, Tony and McGee worked on their own after quitting NCIS in the summer of 2013. The story jumps back and forth between the two timelines, focusing on the changes in Ziva and Tony's relationship and the devil that Ziva can never seem to get off her back. Season 11 AU: When Tony finds himself unexpectedly rearranging his life to accommodate a Bernese mountain dog puppy named Gabby, he doesn't just have second thoughts – on a good day they come in quadruplet. Housetraining, chewed piano legs aside, though, the little bundle of fur soon worms her way into his bruised and battered heart, and even manages to patch it up in the process.

"With you, there's never been a choice." This is her salvation.

Her feet leave the ground, and the sudden rush of gravity pulses through her body before everything fades to black.

As Shelagh and Patrick reunite, their new shared trust leads to an interesting question from Shelagh. A wee bit steamy.

They tell her that her name is Ziva.

This story began life as a brief fic-let continuing the scene in the church hall kitchen when Patrick proposes to Shelagh. It was originally meant to be just a one-shot but seems to have taken on a life of its own as the relationship between Shelagh and Patrick evolves. Rated K for some adult themes in later chapters.

"I'm sorry, I don't know you" Tony said, simply. Like that one single comment hadn't ripped her heart out and stomped all over it. She was his partner, she's not meant to be forgotten by him of all people.
