![]() Author has written 2 stories for Katekyo Hitman Reborn!, and Durarara!!/デュラララ!!. EDIT: 2014 - Wow it's been a while I've even looked at my profile, I had been writing privately but never really got around to uploading any of them. I'm planning to change that over this year so lets keep in touch! (Formerly Kiryuu Zero) Honestly... What do you write in a profile? I'm one of the many readers that don't appreciate having the scroll down pages and pages of "copy and paste" quotes so I'll keep my profile short for that sake of the simplicity I enjoy so much. I enjoy mostly reading (manga and novels, I also have an avid tastes towards non-fiction books), drawing (which I never seem to improve at), and writing (which is becoming one of my favourite past times). I read variety of genres for manga, most of my manga collection leans towards the genre 'Shounen' as I dislike Romance... although I do enjoy the rare Shoujo manga here and there that somehow catches my interest... While I enjoy BL genres, (this means male x male relationships to anyone who is naive though not to know, its also an abbriviation for "Boys Love") I enjoy hetero pairings just fine. If I'm writing a story, the plot would be able to lean both ways so don't have a guarded view on them. As a note, I do not tend to enjoy Lemon, Lime or any of the R-18 scenes in fictions, I prefer to read psychological thrillers, normal psychologically challenging plot, well written relationships, thought out plans and such that does not involve the typical BL or hetero romance. My stories: A New Beginning - KHR It is going to be rewritten, very throughly with a proper plot this time. It's going to be my number one pet project rather than the stress outlet for an exam it had been a year ago. I've already thought of several plot and how to link it with cannon. Conflicting Opinions - Durarara!! It's gotten an okay response but I will probably fix up the prologue so that it's longer and makes more sense but will be on hold until I get my life sorted out... Hopefully... Feel free to contact me in any way, PM are welcomed and they would make me happy. p.s. or perhaps it should say "Additional Information" To those who are trying to write fanfictions based in Japan... Try to do some before hand research. 1. Schools, unless it is specific classes such as music, art, PE, cooking ie those that need to specialised materials all classes are taken at the students' home rooms. The students don't move around, it's the teachers who does. I know this because my mother was a teacher at Korea and Japan for more tha ten years. 2. If you are going to use Japanese, only use it if you know what you are saying. If you've only watched anime with subtitles and think you've picked up some words... Most of the time you've got it wrong. Some of my friends who actually can converse in Japanese (albit a bit awkwardly or at a very basic level) get the words they hear from anime wrong. That's how hard it is to speak thus write in another language. If you are writing in English, just use English sentences rather than badly done Japanese from the google translate. Even if you know Japanese use English in Italics. I've lost count how many times I've been annoyed because there's Italian, French, German, Chinese and what not in the middle of the story and I have to go all the way down and up again (possibly seeing the conclusion) to know what they mean. Short phrases like "Konnichiwa" "Itadakimasu" etc are fine since we are talking about Japanes anime/game/manga here... Just don't go overboard. 3. Unless you are very traditional, clique, live under a rock... It's not only "not" unusual eating European food, buying European styled food will NOT draw attention. There are more international food shops/restaurants/stores in Asian countries due to their love for new things than in some European (developed) countries. 4. If the character in Japan is smart, ie gets good scores, chances are they know Grammar better than you. Only thing they are lacking is practice in speaking and learning to be more natural. In Asian countries, their tests are based on grammar, similar sentences with slight grammatical mistakes and you have to spot them. If you ever have a character (European... Which is very over done) teaching one of the SMART characters English... Make sure it's just for accents, conversation and what not. They'll be the ones fixing grammatical mistakes of the "exchange student" if we are talking about level of understanding in English (since in manga, there are just too many smart characters). Also, Asian countries are CRAZY about English, if they are RICH, they will have had some overseas time to perfect their English or at least expensive private European English tutors to help them. Ie... they probably won't need help. These are the only ones I can think of that puts me OFF reading some fanfiction... I mean I respect good writers but I have to say some people need to do some research so they don't offend the country and language they are writing about. I have not based my points on any specific fanfiction, I've just gathered the most popular and eye-sore mistakes, if your fanfiction has some of these points... Don't flame/PM me complaints, research and change your stories a bit. Or if your proud of your work, stand by it and say "it's my story, an AU, I can do what I want" etc... It's your choice. Lastly, if you want some advice or help, PM me and I'll be happy to comply |
