Sample of a fic I'll be posting eventually, maybe :/ The original black emptiness that surrounded your vision faded to a wash of fuchsias and blush-pinks, stars seemed to flicker and though their distance from you was grand, each one shone sharply to your eye. And it was clear, though miasmas of blush rose drifted languidly about with the clear bubble-orbs of a light pink that were filled with a salmon energy. You peered down expectantly at your hands, overjoyed to see claws in their place. Your forearm was covered in the deep pink chitin-scale that was carved with horizontal furrows and each claw was silver-mauve, sharpened to a vicious point. Your tail slashed about, slicing through the clouds and the empty smelling, chilling air. You felt the power that was actually the chill in the air, drain into your body, warmth spreading from the power cores inset into your shoulders to the rest of your form. The calm was feather-light on you, the recent unrest lifted far away. You were the most content you had been in years. You flitted about, letting the orbs of energy roll over your tail and wings, the sensation of fulfilment was warm in your core. The slice of a portal tore through the silence, and you flung yourself around seeing the startling glint of gold and pure-white in a oblong tear, and your mother, in all her shining glory slipped out of the portal, screeching in nigh-hysterical fury, the sound ripping through you and jolting you back. She froze you, each limb drenched in a concrete time-hold, different from your brother's. His was chilled and calculating, intelligent, but hers was burning hot and washed over you in heavy waves, you could feel the heat of her rage, the strength of her willpower, and the sharp grip of her intelligence and wisdom in equal parts. A certain acute horror filled you as the carved gold ring around her midsection seemed to spin in tandem with the multitude of plates that rotated about her, and energy grew in the centre, in her, and it was golden, in contrast with the silver that your brother and you were decorated with, as well as the tarnished bronze that was inlaid into your younger brother. You could do nothing as she formed the orb and fired the beam, glittering and shining like molten gold. It shattered the rose-orbs and ripped the clouds asunder and it bit into you, your scales tore from their flesh holdings and sections of your griffon-wings tore from their sockets. The pearl-power cores shattered when she aimed them and black bled into your vision until you saw no more. yehaw :) Oh Noes!
