He lends his hand in the investigation as only Jane can while she finds herself smitten with the FBI agent, but then there is a twist that Lisbon never saw coming.

He grabbed her arm and raised her right hand. "That's definitely swollen." he concluded, dropping her wrist. She snatched her arm back. "Jane!" she hissed. "It's not that swollen." Shaking his head, he dragged her into the bullpen, lifting her arm for everyone to see. "Van Pelt!" he called. The rookie agent looked up. "Isn't Lisbon's finger swollen?"

Summary: Jane has a nightmare about Lisbon being shot. He knows it was only a dream and he shouldn't worry, but all he can think about is making sure she's OK. '"Jane! What the heck do you think-" She was interrupted with Jane colliding with her in a crushing hug. She was knocked slightly back into her apartment but Jane managed to balance them...'
