(Spoilers for A Year in the Life.) With this short story, I'm attempting to fix a startling omission in the revival. Is it AU or simply some unaired scenes within canon? You be the judge. Fair warning, this doesn't solve the problems of the revival's cliffhanger, only compounds them. If you're gonna end in a cliffhanger, you might as well go all out!

Just when Rory starts adjusting to her big news, life throws her for another loop. As she dives into a new project, she begins to reconnect with an old friend, and she gradually starts to wonder: Can you ever move forward by going back? Post-AYITL. Rory/Jess. Slow burn. Side plots for Lorelai/Emily, Paris, and Lane. A bit of Logan too.

"Fatalism is bullshit. Astrology makes more sense, and that's sayin' something. You inherit bad genes, not bad decisions." Starting right after the four last words and stretching on over a year, this au is a continuation of Harvest Moon and Trouble so you might enjoy this more if you read those first, but if not: Spoiler: Rory and Jess are having a baby.

Jess Mariano never met his mother. He grew up with only his dad, Jimmy, travelling all over the country, before finally landing in Venice Beach, CA, where they had been for five years now. This Summer seems much like any other, until one day when a blue-eyed beauty walks into a bookstore on the boardwalk, changing Jess' life forever.

It is what is. But it is, and that's the thing. It doesn't have to be perfect, it just has to be real. What would the revival have been like if Rory and Jess got together before it? Starts in early fall of 2015 through 2016 to Luke and Lorelai's wedding. It's good, but not necessary to read Harvest Moon first as this is a continuation of it. Disclaimer: Very ship-centric.

Takes place before, and would derail some of the events of, the revival. Rory drives to Luke's fishing cabin for some time alone after Richard's death. Only she's not alone. When she arrives she finds Jess there, fixing the place up for Luke.

post-AYITL. Rory is pregnant and in need of help. Jess is the one who has always been there for her. Join the two of them on a journey down the road into the future that neither expected, but were probably fated to walk all along. (A series of snapshots through time, beginning the day after the revival ends).

While he's probably always going to be a little in love with her, he knows he can live with that. For once, Jess is absolutely, without any doubt, positive he can give her what she needs.

Almost a decade after the disastrous kiss at Truncheon, Luke & Lorelei are married. Rory is a world-traveling reporter based in Boston. Jess is a successful author recently moved from Philadelphia to New York. When life brings Rory to New York she and Jess reconnect.

A Rory and Jess story, set a year after the series finale. Older and wiser, can they get the second chance they both so desperately want?

Jess uses a series of plagiarized lines to say the things he can't say. Short, in-series chapters leading up to a post-finale LIT fic.

Alternate Universe. Literati. Now in their early 30s, as Jess and Rory juggle careers and expectations, they find that their friendship has been the one constant in their lives.
